Hi, Folks;

We ordered our Keystone 250 RKS two weeks ago, intending to pull it with our V8 4x4 4Runner. And then the siren song started to play. We went by a truck dealer today, and they had a "give me a ticket red" 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie with the 5.7L Hemi. Sweet ride, and it only has 17000 miles on it. The price is fair (under $23K), and it is in excellent condition. It was great fun punching the gas and man oh man does that thing run.

So...should we pull the trigger? Anyone out there have good/bad opinions on this truck? Should we go up to a 2500?

Please help - we're torn.

Thanks,
elizabeth

I'd go 2500 or more, so when the "I need a bigger trailer" hits, you're good.

Make no doubt about it. There is nothing else more effective at improving the towing experience than a bigger truck. I have upgraded TVs 3 times and at each step was amazed at the difference. I now have a 1 ton crewcab dually diesel,,, and the next TV will likely be another upgrade.

If you can swing it, get a 2500 now!

What B.O. said. I know from my experience that often when I go with a 'deal' as opposed to what I'd spec from scratch I end up buying what I really want a little down the road. For instance my F150 Supercrew lasted 2years, but my Yukon XL 3/4T has lasted me 8 years and I'm still planning on a few more.

If you can find a 2500 in your price range, go with the 3/4 ton. You will be glad you did in the event you want to upgrade TT's in a few years. Congrats on the new TT by the way

It seems a little high, three years old, miles are good though. I don't know your market but I'd shop it online before making a commitment just to be sure.

Is that a crew cab, X-cab or standard cab and is it just the two of you or are you bringing along others? 2WD or 4WD and do you want to go from 4WD to 2WD?

I have a friend who origionally towed W/a 2WD till he got stuck in a CG after a long rain. Said he'd never tow W/a 2WD again. Went from a Dogde Cummings to a Ford F350 4X4 SD Dually PSD, seemed pretty happy!

There is nothing worse than being limited to what RV to purchase, by what your tow vehicle can handle, when it comes to TV's bigger is better. We had to upgrade the TV twice and this year it the TT that gets upgraded.
