Having to make an emergency run from San Tan Valley, AZ to San Jose. We are stoping for gas at Costco in Santa Clarita. Does anyone know if Santa Clarita allows overnighting in big box parking lots?

I can't explicitly address your question, but I do know that there's a Camping World and a Walmart at the Lyons Ave./Pico Canyon exit - west side of the freeway. Maybe if you called that Walmart or Camping World?
Also, there's an RV campground at the CA 126 / I5 exit (2 miles west) called
Valencia Travel Village
27946 Henry Mayo Dr
Castaic CA 91384
661-257-3333 PHONE
I've stayed there many times with in an RV club trip. It'd be great for an over-night stay or several day stay since it's not very far from a lot of name brand stores.

You can overnight at the Camping World off of Hwy 5 at the Lyons offramp.

Greyghost....Another 20 miles up the grade (Grapevine) is a rest stop that you can use. The Camping World in SCV usually has several RV's parked in the lot waiting for service. You could hide amongst those without issue.

Greyghost, The Camping World in Santa Clarita also has a dump station, I don't know if it is free or not but it is there.

I-5 Golden State Freeway at Newhall Ranch Road/CA126 Exit, head east to corner of Newhall Ranch Rd and Rye Canyon/Copperhill Rd. for a Wal-Mart on the northwestern corner. See RV's overnighting there all the time.

There are 2 additional WalMart's up here that DO allow overnights:
There is a Super Walmart about 1/2 way across the valley just off of Soledad Canyon. There other one is right off the I-5 at the 126. Get off and go East about a mile. It's on the S-E corner and pretty hard to miss.
Edit: NOW I see that Fred responded right above me

Fred is correct as are SCVJeff and others.
The Camping World at Lyons does have a dump (it's free) and propane as well.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. We made it to the Costco, but my navigator(wife) didn't notice that the Santa Clarita Costco does not have gas (although they're building one now). We lucked out and there was a Shell station near by. We checked with the Kohls next door and they had no issues with us parking there for a few hours. I wasn't too tired so we headed over the Grapevine and we're currently parked at the pilot across from Starbucks at exit 219.
Speaking of the "Grapevine", I-5 up or down the hill is not the "Grapevine". My father was a truck driver and I got to ride the real/original "Grapevine" with him a couple of times. This thing they call the grapevine today is a walk in the park compared to the Real Deal.
Having said that, this iteration of the "Grapevine" is so much more safe than versions one and two that I'd never want to have to drive anything other than this "walk in the park".
We're going catch a few winks and be out of here by 5:00 AM. We should be in San Jose by 10 no later than 11. (Rant coming)We did 550 miles since 2:30 this afternoon and it really impacted my DW's back once we hit I10 in greater LA. It's a disgrace to the Interstate Hiway system 9Rant over).
Again, thanks for all of the good and helpful replies.

I don't know about overnighting at Costco, but I was at the SC Costco about a month ago, in my toad, and I would not even consider driving by rig into that lot. Probably the cheapest fuel in that area is the station on the corner of Sierra Hwy. and San Fernando Rd.
