Can't believe how selfish RV'rs are in Walmart Parking Lots!! We'll all be lucky if we aren't forbidden to park in them.
We "park" in one many nights while traveling the US. Right now we are in Ft Stockton, TX. It is the ONLY place to stop on I-10 for many miles. As we thought, the lot is starting to really fill up with all types of RV vehicles.
My point is how thoughtless drivers are about where they park and stop. Some actually block aisles near entrances, some just pull in and take an entire row the long way and stop in the middle of it, rather than an end so another RV'r could also park there.
This Walmart is a tiny parking lot and becoming extremely abused by thoughtless RV'rs! One big 5th wheel just pushed out sliders on both sides and parked in the middle of the row so no one can park anywhere near him - how thoughtless!!
Can't we all get out, walk around and perhaps look the lot over before just parking without any thought to how can I not hurt the Walmart business while helping my fellow RV'r??
We better ALL start to think responsibly and remember it is a PRIVILEGE to park in a Walmart - not an RV'rs right!!
I don't want to get kicked out of Walmart parking lots because nobody bothers to "think" before just "parking"!!

I hear ya guys. Some of the opposing slide fifth wheels are unusable when the slides are in. I imagine some motorhomes are as well. Not an excuse, just an observation. We are too afraid to put ours out for getting them whacked but our coach is pretty well all useable when they are in. One other thing to keep in mind is if a motorhome is pulling a toad 4 wheels down it is not possible to back up into a spot which of course can cause problems.

I was faced with this same situation on our way south last October. I pulled into the center because it was the only level area. Had I moved to either end to make room for a second RV, we both would have had too much pitch to be comfortable -- or safeguard our propane refrigerators.

You would think someone who lays out $100K plus for a rig could use a campground and pay a few extra bucks. Not to mention the CG owner who are also trying to make a living.
Paying for the night should be obvious. By the way I have paid for every night I stopped over.
We do tend to visit Walmart when we are out, but only to purchase provisions for the night.

I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but I don't understand why people don't just pay the lousy $10 at the PassPort America park in Ft Stockton. Most of you will save a couple bucks by not having to run the generator, so the net cost is somewhere between $5-$8, or about what it costs to drive 15 miles down the road. I do agree with your post about the rudeness of some people and how they take Walmart's generous hospitality for granted. I'll bet the store managers in cities where parking overnight at Walmart is prohibited are a happier lot than those who have to contend with RV's strewn all over their parking lots and the attendant trash, dripping fluids and dog poop they have to deal with.

Downsizer: your observation is a good one. I just saw the same thing this week. A fiver pulled into one of the main paking lanes leading into the stores entrance. He parked it in the center of all the lanes. Obviously so he would have no problem getting out when he wanted to. I believe he should have taken a far corner area or a far side and left the main aisles open for the in and out customer. Sure he might say "I spent a hundred bucks in the store" 10 (in and outs), could have spent $400.00 in a few minutes. If we abuse it we are going to lose it.

I agree - people should be considerate.
That said, I see at least 3 campgrounds/RV parks right off I-10 at Ft. Stockton.

I've stayed at the WM in Fort Stockton in the past with no problem. You stated that no other facilities were available. Be informed that there are at least two RV parks in town. Just a few weeks ago I overnighted at Comanche Land RV Park and there is another small park in town that is very inexpensive. Of course, you can't beat "free" but I just wanted to set the record straight that there ARE other alternatives for overnighting in Ft. Stockton.

The majority of RVs are financed to the hilt! Most owe more than the value of the RV.

Just 53 miles west of Ft Stockton is nice little Passport America park in Balmorhea. Saddleback Mtn
Right off the I-10 exit. $10 for a full hook-up w/Passport Amer. Does not look like much and the restaurant is no longer in business, but it was quiet and convenient.
