I have an F150 FX4 5.4L SuperCrew on order with the 7600# GVWR package, 11,200 tow weight (not too mention 3.73 gears, locker, 36 gal., etc.), and all the loveliness the 2010 F150 exudes. Especially the cab and creature comforts.
I fail to see how an F250 5.4L would be better. I would only go with the F250 if it had a diesel and was dedicated to towing only.
Sure, if you got to tow a huge trailer, and you do it regularly, get the F250. Otherwise, I would go with a properly equipped F150.

How is the F-150 built better than the F-250 SuperDuty, they are both Ford's I need to know. I must have the wrong truck F-350. Tell me Skip so I can go down and trade it in on a toy truck. Surveyor, hows the pot?

F150 Crew with the longer bed (6.5'?) has 1810 payload so is that enough?
Wait a second... 1810 is more than 3/4 ton

At least skip has the right brand of truck...that redeems him somewhat!

If I were in your shoes, it would be an easy decision. A F-250(since you are not going to be towing a fifth wheel) equipped with the 6.2 liter engine and the new 6-speed Torqueshift. Just wait a few weeks and they will be in the show rooms. I am not knocking the F-150, I think they are great trucks, but for the trailer you are towing and the amount of people and gear, I think you would be making a serious error in going with the 1/2 tonner. Skippy just has a love affair with his F-150 but I think his cab layout would be a bit cramped for the OP's needs. Isn't that small cab the only configuration to get the max tow rating of the F-150?

They bumped up the GVW for the 2010 F150 Crew cab pickups so it now has the GVW to carry the tongue weight of an 11k trailer. Skips was an HD though which you can only get in regular cab and extended cab.
I think the OP would be okay if not for the firewood. My F250 says it has 2k of payload in the door. The F250 will be more stable towing and if you do get the F150 I would get it with the longer bed for the extra wheelbase. Waiting for a 2011 F250 with the new 6.2L engine might not be a bad idea but there are currently pretty good incentives on the 2010 models that might let you buy a V10 and save enough cash to keep it fueled vs the 6.2. Your other option is to buy a 2011 6.7L. It should get comparable (or better?) mileage than the F150 but it will cost about $7k more for the diesel option.
I tow an 8k 29' trailer that is over 10' tall with a lot of wind drag with an F250 with 6.4L diesel. I do not load it down with firewood although it would not bother it if I did. Mine does have the camper package which adds overload springs and makes it an F350 SRW in everything but name.
Whichever truck you buy get the Ford integrated brake controller.

250 sd! It isn't "needed" but it is much more comfortable/relaxing towing, the 1/2 ton will get you there. If your everyday needs tips the scale to the 1/2 ton, then get a 1/2 ton, but opt for the 3/4 ton if you can.

There is really good advice here but since the coin is flipped many times, I'm sure your decision is clear as mud by now.
I say both trucks will do but it you aren't towing too often, then the F150 is a much better daily driver.
The F150 also has a smart anti-sway module that works along with the brake controller.
