What does the Owner's Manual say?
Personally, I like to change the oil in all my engines at least once a year. More often, if they are run more hours/miles.
Also, depending on the type of oil (Synthetic or Dino) you may extend periods between oil changes.
Lots of people like to change at 3-4K miles, but if you only travel about 5K in a year, you may just want to wait until the end of the season.
You will probably get a wide variety of answers. As far as one engine over another, that probably won't matter quite as much.....same for diesel over a gasser, as you still have the wear and tear of those pistons and bearings getting a work out, so I would suggest going with what the Manual or Mfgr (give a Dealer's Service Mgr. a call), and then adjust as you feel comfortable.

You may also want to look into the Ford-Entusiats web sit for lots of info on your Ford diesel. I have found a lot of useful and cost saving info there. Get your fuel filters at your local International truck dealer for around $34. I change my oil using Rotella T every 7500 miles. The 6.0 likes clean oil as the injectors are oil pressure triggered.

If it was me I would run it for 5000 miles/6 months, or something like that. Then change it and do an oil analysis and see how your oil looks, and raise or lower the change interval, based on the test.

I just changed the oil in my old Cummins at 10 months and 3,000 miles.
The requirement during warranty was 6 months or 6,000 miles.
The oil sample test showed that there was no water or coolant in the oil. The detergent levels were more than adequate and the TBN of the oil was 8.8.
New Rotella T has a TBN of 9.6.
Oil with a TBN of 1.0 will not absorb enough acids to protect your engine.
I changed my oil way too soon.
I believe the manufacturers and Jiffy Lube have scared us all into wasting oil.
Oil is cheaper than buying a new engine, however so the scare factor works.

My '08 Dodge manual shows 7500 miles. I change at 6000. I don't pay any attention to the year part because we put about 20,000 per year on the truck and the same on the car. I'd think all three diesels would have similar change intervals.

The 6.0 needs very clean oil to keep the fuel injectors operating properly. The injectors are hydraulicly operated, using engine oil and unless the engine oil is very clean the injectors will plug up and you will need expensive work done. An aftermarket filter system is a option, the other option is to change the oil often.
Pay your money and take your choice.

Just do the math according to the miles you drive per year and cost per oil change. Over time, it is not actually that expensive to change the oil more frequently if you do it yourself. Diesel engine repair gets VERY expensive........
