im sure you wont make the same mistake again however one thing i do to insure that i dont make a mistake like that is to leave my storage door open until jacks and legs are up...reason being, i store the crank handle for my scissor jacks in that compartment and if its open, things are down(i dont close that compartment until i do a walk around)............just my mental sequential trigger

Thanks for all the replies. I wanted to do a follow-up on this subject. Unbelievable as it sounds I could not remedy this situation. Talked with two Jayco dealers, many parts suppliers and even Jayco. Seems my 5er has 34" legs (#71522) versus the standard 29" legs (#71415) - I'm a little fuzzy on this now but I think that's right. I spent two days on the phone, traveled to numerous dealers, repair shops and a recycler to find a replacement shaft. Unfortunately, the one I needed was gone. A trailer parts place finally called Atwood, then Jayco and found the correct part. They could get it delivered in 10 days.
Anyway what I ended-up doing was I cut-off the bent portion (about 6-7 inches), smoothed-out any rough parts, drilled holes on the bottom, greased and put back together. Believe it or not this works fine, except I don't have the additional 6-7 inches of travel. I just use more of the inside slider tube. I am taking the leg to a metal fabricator to see if they can make another leg for me out of the square tubing.
The one things that blows me away is - what if I were on the road? It would have to stay on the TV forever! Oh well, thought I'd share my frustrations.

Confusious Say: He who spend too much mental notes watching legs, rip antenna off roof!

Happens to all of us! Ya just hope you don't hurt anybody and that it won't cost a fortune to fix.

I just had a close call today. Was hooking up pulling the 5er out from my storage spot and just as I was hitching up it started to pour down rain. I jumped out, raised the legs a couple of inches and did my test pull. All was good so I jumped out in the rain again, removed the wheel chocks, threw them in the truck bed and hopped in ready to leave. I got a couple of feet and my son come running over and pounded on my window. I never raised the legs the rest of the way. It could have been ugly!

Domar link for a whole new leg.

The outside tube is pretty standard square steel tubing available from any fabricator, steel supply or on line atthis link.

Last fall, I also bent the door side front leg. After checking cost with Lippert, $270.00. I found Domar's leg replacement operated with its own motor, $197.00. After removing center drive shift and bent leg, I installed the new motorized leg and wired in left & right selector switchs using the same up & down switch.
I love the new leg set-up allowing for quick leveling during trailer set-up (almost glade old leg bent).

That's a good idea, black bird. I wonder if the stock legs have 2 motors or just one, if 2 then I could wire a selector switch as I'm always a hair off on one or the other leg....
