Wow, finally after trying many different topical solutions over the past few years on my 05 RV to change now black vinyl molding (originally white, but tainted by mold)I recently applied several coats/passing over using a spray bottle of CLOROX OUTDOOR BLEACH. The next day I noticed my vinyl molding is now clear/completely or nearly completely white in some areas or mostly white with gray spots versus black. I will keep spraying on occasion to see if all mold residue can be eliminated and hope to seal the vinyl with Future Floor "polish"/wax as recommended by one RVer I know to fight back against recurrence (theoretically it may "seal" the vinyl pores).
I am so happy the grungy looking "Black" molding is now nearly gone!

I found it easy to just replace the vinyl strips every three or four years.

Yes I'd like to know where those were purchased also. We just bought a fifth wheel that was repo'd from FL & it has mold/mildew on every window molding. I would love to replace them rather than try to clean them. Becky

Thanks for the tip about "Clorox Outdoor Bleach". Never heard of the stuff. I know clorine is a great mold remover. People here in florida use bleach to clean mobile homes. They mold really bad here.
One guy used swimming pool bleach. It dribbled down his arm and removed the skin too. It's very caustic stuff.
I use laundry bleach on my vinyl roof. I have to wear rubber boots and gloves, and a sacrificial set of clothes. But it really caeans the roof.
There are other moldcides and mildewcides that work. Roundup will kill mold. I like clorine better bacause the residue keeps mold off longer.
But when the mold actually penetrates the surface of the vinyl, practically nothing will get it out. Kind of like rust. There is surface rust, then there's pitted rust that goes right thru the metal.

I would think (possibly the wrong thing to do) that the Clorox would dry the vinyl out and remove it's elasticity in the not to distant future.

Wesley's White Wall Tire Cleaner does the job also. It is a gel material and will stick to the molding. Use a rag or old tooth brush to apply. Be certain to rinse well. It does contain bleach that is not good for decals.
