I'm glad the possibility the toad can get caught steering the wrong way came up.
We towed a Tercel that stuck that way a couple times. Once on a tight U-turn and another where I tried to turn sharp right into the right lane from a side street. In both cases I ended up getting out and cranking the wheel back straight. Decided not to lock the driver's door after that. We had a little Mitsubishi pickup that never did it. Neither had power steering.
Some campground roads have soft sand or loose gravel. Toad's more likely to get hung up in that stuff than pavement where it has traction.

j-d,

Many newer cars, especially front wheel drive cars with MacPherson struts, do not have much caster built into the front suspension system. Alternatives for caster are built into other parts of the steering system. Caster is what makes the front wheels on a grocery cart always follow a turn. Caster is also what makes your car straighten itself out after a turn.

With little or no caster in the front wheels, it is VERY easy for the wheels to get stuck against the turn stop and not be able to straighten themselves out especially, as you point out, on a compromising surface.
