X2!!!! I say, give the veterans 100% off and let those who didn't serve, me included, pay thier way!
I suppose you also refuse to accept your Social Security check, too.
Don't know about you but I pay into SS! Now as 12thgen stated in not so many words, basis of our financial ails. You hear all the time about the YOUNGER generation having a sense of entitlement? If you can balance the budget how can you continue to give or provide "stuff"?

I'm not quite there yet, but I (and my employers)have paid (a lot) into Social Security. But that's my opinion I can see your point as well.

This discussion sure gives an insight into why it is so difficult to control "entitlements" in our national budget. Once given, they never go away--even in times of great need.

Sorry, but I don't see any "great need" when our government is printing and spending money we don't have, like a bunch of drunken sailors. When they clean their own house("entitlements"), then they can start cleaning mine, but not before.

This geezer feels that he needs the discount to compensate for the Washington made inflation, past, present and coming all too soon.

Does this policy revision also apply to all Federal organizations, i.e. National Parks, National Monuments, etc ?

Yoo Hoo....a discount on elective recreation. Nice for campers. How about a discount on groceries or Depends...something whereby ALL (us) seniors benefit.

To answer your question. It depends. The cards gave a discount to those people utilizing the agencies who were on the list. For example, we got in free to any National Park. Agencies who partake in the program are: BLM, Fish and Wildlife service, Bureau of Reclamation, National Park Service, Forest Service and TVA.
The change that Forest Service wanted, and it was not for themselves, was in the forests operated by their concessionares. The Forest Service proposed that the concessionaires would no longer have to honor the 50% discount offered holders of the disabled and senior cards. Rather, they would offer a discount of 10% off.
Entrance fees, such as to the National Park service was not proposed. If an entrance fee is proposed by an agency not on the list, than there is no free entrance nor any discount offered.

Don't forget the COE, they don't Sell the passes, BUT, they DO accept them.
