If I read this correctly the news is that the 50% discount remains but is still not honored everywhere. So the policy of allowing vendors to not honor the card is still in effect. Is that correct?

Good news, I guess. Now, can someone remind me how us old folks have earned this? I started getting forgetful when I passed 70 a few years ago.

No, the way I read it, they re-instated the full 50% discount and returned to requiring the concessionaires to honor it. However, I did ask the SKP to look into this and reply with their findings.

Goody, just another area where the government can't get the deficit under control by taking away discounts for seniors that have "earned" their reduced payment to campgrounds by ......? By golly, let's continue to demand our kids pay their way and at least half of our way!

Did anyone mention that people over 65 control 80% of the wealth in America?

That is my understanding, that the Forest Service and their concessionaires will be honoring the senior and disabled passes. The Forest Service had passed a regulation saying that the concessionaires only had to give a 10% discount, not the 50% as originally written.

The effort was so largely unpopular, that the Forest Service says they will rewrite the regulation allowing the 50% in the Forest, no matter who is in charge.

Florida State Parks have a 50% reduced rate off the basic camping fee for their campgrounds for over 65 or disabled. Applies to Florida residents only. (Based on years of faithful service to the tax base in Florida, and includes Fishing license too..)
If you are entitled and object -- Just - don't tell them you are old, disabled or senile.
