My 2007 23-b has a square key twist type end latches on the bunks.I noticed looking at the 2010 units they went back to the latch and lock type.Do you consider this an improvement? I have lubed my latches whenever I maintain my camper, and have never had a problem.I remember seeing rust bleeding off of the older units.

When I asked the tech at our dealership, he stated that some people had issues when they applied too much pressure. There is a small cam that will break off inside the lock. It will spin without unlatching the bunk end. I have had no problem with mine.

I have the same locks as you do. I like the looks, but I've read stories of people breaking them off. I have friends with the latch type and they work very well too. Less likely to cause problems in the future. I wonder if my locks could be changed to the latch type if I wanted to?

I prefer the look of the key type latch, its very clean.People break them off because they twist them way too hard.If you push in on the bunk end while turning,it takes very little torque to close them.Plus you can feel them stop when they hit bottom.Another way is to take notice of the small arrow.Stop when its pointing in or strait across.I cant say I dislike the look of the big latch, its seems a bit big to do a simple job.Is it an improvement????????

Mine has the newer sort, which work very easily and would be quite a challenge to break. I like the new ones.
