We traveled from MD to Ft Wilderness in Oct 2009. We planned for driving about 5 to 6 hours a day. We drove from MD to KOA Fayattevllie, NC the first day. Had a flat tire an hour outside of Fayatteville, but still made it in about 6 hours. We were lucky that a tire service came to the campground and replaced the tire. The second day we stopped in a KOA in Kingsland, GA. We had another flat tire about an hour away from the KOA, but still made it in about 6 hours. It was about a 3 to 4 hour trip the next day from GA to Ft Wilderness. Returning the next weekend we stopped at the Campingworld in St Austine, FL and had all 4 fiver tires replaced with Goodyear G614 tires and had an uneventful trip back to MD, again stopping in GA and NC. Outside of the flat tires it was an easy trip stopping in NC and GA. Lessons learned: (1) Coachnet was great in replacing fiver tires with spares both times; (2) We disconnected only because we went out to dinner otherwise we stayed connected over night; (3) The KOAs were great convient to I95 and very helpful with our flat tire situation; and (4) Ft Widerness was great, although it was a little tight backing our 40ft fiver into our site. Other than the flat tires it was a great trip which we hope to do again in the future.

We made this trip last April, drove straight down to the KOA south near Savannah the first day, spent the next day around Savannah and then only half a lazy days drive to FW. On the way back, we drove straight through, 19 hours but having that extra day on the back end of vacation is always a bonus...

Another vote for the Savannah KOA.. Easy off the interstate. Lots of food located near the campground and clean place for an overnight. Great trip the rest of the way to Disney the next day. We stayed at Kissimmee KOA and had a great trip.

We make this trip about 3 to 5 times a year. We go down 301 to 207 but, the Nice bridge is under constuction so leave at a time to go around the wonderfull Capitol Beltway to 95 south we stop at the Flying J in brunwick Ga, or the Oaks campgrounds at Exit 1 in GA. easy on and off there is also, a KOA next door about 41/2 hours not pushing it to Disney exit 67.
