Ditto on Garden of the Gods. We stayed in a backin that had plenty of space. The park and location were great. I would highly recommend it.

Personal Preference: avoid the Golden Eagle RV park. While we were there, the bathrooms were broken, the grounds were generally poorly maintained, and bears would come to the open garbage dump to feed with support of the owner. This was a couple of years ago, but the images are still clear.

If you can spend time at Mueller State Park (not far - up by Divide CO) or Rocky Mountain National Park -- well, those will be extremely positive memories for you! Those two sites are simply awesome.

I want to thank everyone so far that has commented. Anyone stayed at the Pikes Peak RV Park in Manitou Springs? On the parks that have been mentioned, does anyone have experience with their wifi? I will only be there for a couple of nights, but wifi is very important to me. Thanks again for your comments and I appreciate any others that wish to post a reply.

Some RV sites Above Colorado Springs in Woodland Park which seemed to be nice driving by them. Woodland Park was a very nice town.

It really depends upon the type of ameneties that you desire or expect. We spent 2 weeks at Cheyenne Mt. SP and it is great for a state park. Big sites, 180 degree views, deer and wild turkeys walking through your sites, nice clean restrooms and laundry's, along with great hiking trails if you can handle the elevation. It is easy driving to most of the attractions that you would want to visit. Most of the other rv parks that we saw in the area were nothing more than crowded parking lots so no comparison as far as we were concerned. See our travel blog and pictures to get an idea of what the state park is like.

Mueller SP is further up in the mountains west of CS nestled in more trees with good sized spots. Its about a 30-40 minute drive into the CS area as I remember. Beautiful setting in the mountains. Its on your way to Vicktor and Cripple Creek.

As I said before, it really depends upon what type of "extras" you need, but the Colorado state parks are VERY hard to beat.

Enjoy your trip.

I would agree with the suggestions for Cheyenne Mountain State Park and Mueller State Park. Both are great choices. Cheyenne Mountain has full hookups, Mueller has electric only.

If you want to stay in either you are going to need reservations. Make them now. They go fast.

Another vote for Mountaindale. We picked it because it is centrally located to the places we wanted to see, Royal Gorge, Pikes Peak cog railway, etc. They also have a computer room for free use by their guests.
