Any suggestions on campgrounds in the Colorado Springs area? I will be going to Pikes Peak on the cog train. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

We took 6 families to the 'Lone Duck' campground which is located about 2 miles from the entrance to Pikes Peak highway. Nice folks with lots of things to do in the campground. Cabins, pool, rec center etc. www.loneduckcamp.com It has a very rural setting with scenery right from the campground and a small stream winds through the middle.

We stayed at the Garden of the Gods campground also. The spaces are tight - very tight, but the location is good.

Last summer we stayed a few days at the Garden of the Gods. While they have some very nice pull thrus, they also have some less desirable, too close, muddy when it rains, too close to the group tenting area, etc. Guess which we got. LOL Most summers, when we are in the Springs area, we will stay in Woodland Park at one of the commercial campgrounds there in town. The KOA in the Springs is also nice, just off of Interstate 25. It is more on the south end of town and just a few blocks from the Camping World store.

As said earlier, Cheyenne Mountain State Park is a new park and a really nice looking place to stay.
