We bought the Wilson repeater and was ready to hit it with a sledge hammer - did not work at all. Finally I called Wilson Tech Support who said I had it installed wrong and I was probably getting feedback between the big antenna and the little antenna. I followed their recommendations and, well, they were right! A proper installation DOES make all the difference. Now I can be using several cell phones and a laptop simultaneously in areas where I'd not otherwise be getting a signal. Moral: follow their instructions and call Wilson Tech Support if you have trouble.

Good advise!

There is a minimum distance required between the outside and inside antenna. It is a much smaller distance in a car because the metal provides some isolation the RV fiberglass does not.

Because of where I wanted to mount the outside antenna and the amplifier, aircard and router, I could not get the required separation and ended up getting a boost amplifier that has a small flat antenna that Velcros to the back of a cell phone or aircard. Not as convenient as a repeater but works well.

In case anyone is interested you can see the amp I got - SIGNALBOOSTâ„¢ Mobile and Home/Office Cellular/PCS Amplifier (811210) - HERE.

Wilson paperwork states a minimum of 20 feet between outside & inside antenna, Also sez to turn OFF everything prior to turning on the AMP or the AMP could oscilate (Lights on the AMP).

Thank you to all who have responded on the topic!

I actually called Wilson and they referred me to their dealer (because they dont sell directly to the public), www.Unwiredsignal.com, the place where I had found the system in question.

I spoke with Jeff and he was just great! He answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. He also told me that if I wasnt satisfied with it I could send it back no questions asked!

I was convinced and bought it. I cannot wait for it to come in and get it set up!

Thank you all for your help and great advice!

Yay to all!

P.S. I will let everyone know how it goes and maybe one day this post can help some one else! If I get a chance I'll even post a picture!
