Did a search on this subject but no answer to this question. Having never used a featherbed (always memory foam or egg crate foam), can a feathered mattress pad be stowed by rolling or folding it up? I keep all bedding in a duffel bag, on top of the porta potty. I want to continue this practice.

TIA

I can't imagine that a feather-bed would be any different than a down sleeping bag or parka or quilt. All of them we regularly stuff into anything that they will fit into. Just fluff them up and use.

I have always been told that long term storage of feather products should be in a fluffed up manner. It is OK to pack them tightly for a few days.

My Eddie Bauer goose down sleeping bags, purchased around 1975, back when he was an expedition outfitter instead of a clothing store, are still nearly new. The only time they are compressed is when I am backpacking.

You can fold it into a large plastic bag, twist it closed then suck the air out with a little vaccuum cleaner. Even a little 12v should work. No vac? Just go to a car wash and use the large one there. It's amazing how small the package becomes without the air.
