Aeonsat.com sells directv dishes for $44 to $79. I ordered my 4' tripod today from them today for $22 plus $10 in shipping. The cheapest i found any where.

Doesn't need a meter with Direct either but it does make life easier.

last time the DTV guy was by the house he gave me a new dish in the box. i found a dual LNB in a tash pile that works great.

For the stand, I use the roof TV tripod mount for TV antennas sold at Lowes and the like. Stick a piece of the right size conduit in it for the vertical. Hang a gallon jug full of water inside the base for stability.

Spend the money and buy one of the automatic finding portable dishes. You will not regret it. There are a couple on sale at camping world. After sometimes spending 1/2 hour or more yelling at the wife "How the signal" I gave up and bought an automatic one . Much nicer no yelling a couple minutes finding the sat and thats it. To find the sat you need the zip code, which is where the mail goes to. It may miles away from where you are trying to aim from

Hey JR45,

I assume you use the alignasite. Do you really like it and did you get the dish mount also?

Yes I have the dish mount and when you get ready to set up just move your stand around until you have a shot looking at the mirrors if you are in the tree's or brush and if you are in the open you do not need it. If you get one wait until Camping World has them on sale for about $139 with free shipping. Here in the Pacific Northwest with all the trees you need all the help you can get.

1)a reciever, 2) any old sat dish from your house, goodwill, craigs, flea market, etc. 3) some cable, 4) home-made stand or high dollar widget as long as it stays in place and has vertical mast, 5) a set of instructions for the first time or two, 6) a COMPASS, the most important element besides 7) the subscription to sat. tv. That is all you need.

If it take more than 5 min to get a 90% signal, something is not set up right. If your stand has a reliable vertical and you can read a compass you should hit the sat first try, then tune in the best signal.

bought alignasite and was very disapointed. Got the Sat buddy 2 meter, can get dish set up without connecting to the receiver very quickly.

I imagine this has been covered before, but I'm looking for a small dish compatible with my home DirecTV receiver. My understanding is the receiver will work if I have a dish, meter, and cable. Am I right? Anyhow, where to buy, best price, which one ?? Need all the info I can get. Thanks

Hello Sandy,

I can recommended to read this article about RV satellite dish.
