Further to my posting above, if you're just using it for snowbirding, seriously consider if you want or need to take the rig back or whether it's better to just store it in the US in the off-season. You will save serious money on taxes, registration, insurance, inspections, cost of driving it home, etc, if that works for you. I had one registered in NC, many people use Florida, South Dakota, or Montana, but our new one will be going home. I figured NC saved me about $5000 a year on a $25,000 rig.
Looking for Free Wifi I noticed SSID " HRM_Police_Surveillance_Van_#2" Think it's safe to connect?

Before we bought we checked out Us deals on the internet. Ended up buying one in Langley BC, Traveland. It was an 06 with 9000 km on it. They beat any deal we could find in the US by thousands. And the benefit was, It was very easy to register here.

Wire transfer of your funds from the Canadian bank to the dealer's bank. usually only takes a few hours and I don't know of anyone that would not accept a direct transfer of money into your account. You MUST make arrangements with your bank while you are still in Canada. Unless this is done in person, before you leave Canada, I don't know of any banks that will allow a wire transfer with a phone call from you. I have it set up with my bank so that I have a special wire transfer code that we use to authorize a wire transfer no matter where I am. You can probably do this in person at your bank.

Some real good advice here. Thanks so much. We expect to be full timing so will bring rig back to Alberta for paperwork. Looks like good chance I'll either be going from Ohio-Alberta or Florida-Alberta.
I will give our local dealer 1 more kick at it but he seems more interested in getting me to look at other rigs I'm not interested in.
I am cheering on our Can-buck...it seems to be making a run for parity...

I think it was mentioned earlier but just in case - make sure you look into warranty work for your RV. It's entirely possible that your local Canadian dealer won't do warranty work on a new RV purchased in the US.

I just phoned my local dealer & he did have his nose out of joint stating that they would do no warranty work on the unit. I did give him the opportunity to cut his price by 25k and profit 30k instead of zero. We'll see how that goes.
In my opinion, if I need warranty work done in Calgary then I'm doing it wrong anyway (full timing).

Winnie says any dealer can service. Traveland wouldn't deal as well as Triangle out of Victoria so I bought there. Now traveland doesn't even get my parts or service $$ either. just be certain you get quotes on exact things. I had 6 quotes: 2 from BC, 2 from WA state and 2 from "internet" dealers. of the very very specific things I asked for only 1 got it right. 2 never did get it corrected properly and ironically the 1 who did, also had the lowest price. In Victoria of all places. So just be super sure you're getting what you're asking for. Good news is that Winnie and Itasca will fax/email you the MSRP of all options so you can ask for specifics.

I like how you think but not everyone is prepared to spend weeks in an RV dealer lot or at a campground nearby waiting for parts to show up. When you're on the road it's also hard to get something fixed at one dealer and then trying to get the dealer at the next stop along the way to address the mess the previous dealer made.
Not trying to talk you out of it - just want to make sure you're going into this with your head up

If you do decide to go south to buy you might want to give yourself lots of time to fully go through and understand the coach.
Try everything out, maybe even camp at the dealership for a time and make sure the dealer understands that if there are any adjustments or items that need to be tuned up it will be agreed that this would happen ATONCE. Maybe in writing.
In other words, stress to them that a PDI be done on the coach before you arrive and someone go through it to make sure it is PERFECT.
I would ask that it be ready to travel -like sewer hookup hose, water hose, propane and FUEL tanks full.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Before buying find out the Sales Tax rates in the state you are buying. Florida charged me 6%. In NM I only had to pay 3.
