If you do a little research on this and other forums, I think that you will find many cases in which Winegard went beyond what is required to help their customers.
If you can't remember to do a final walkaround before you depart, you should expect to pay for the accessory. Perhaps you should also search for a device that reminds you to disconnect the electric, water, cable, sewer, etc. If your unit didn't come with one, perhaps the manufacturer could provide you with the accessory at no charge.

You guys are brutal...oftentimes it's not what was said but in the manner in which it was said. Now, I wasn't privy to the conversation between the OP and the Winegard representative. If the OP "demanded" the cable, I can see why he was denied any courtesy. OTOH, when asked and/or presented in a factual and courteous fashion, often, in the spirit of customer satisfaction, a reasonable solution can be derived. In this case I must give both sides the benefit of the doubt. Only they know if there was a better solution and we are only hearing one side on the story.....just sayin......Dennis

The part that gets me is there is no "Accessory" available for this.
Thats good!!! By that scale, I'm only on the first third of getting older!!! From now on when I forget to zip up I won't feel so bad about it. What was the topic again?

I agree with Corkey05....I have the TravLer and I didn't want or need the ignition override feature. I have more of a gripe with cell phone companies that sell you a new phone with no car charger. This issue is kind of trivial.
I wired my antenna to the dash indicator light that is connected to my batwing antenna. Now my dash light comes on whenever the batwing or sat dish is up.

So my guess is you don't do a final walk-around check before you pull out of a campsite. Why blame Windgard?

I hang my ignition keys on the antenna crank handle. Sometimes iy take a while for me to remember where I put my keyys, but the antenna's always down when I drive away.

I think all of us that have aviation backgrounds do a final walk around as second nature. Is the best insurance you have.

Your right Dennis go back and look at the tone of the post and you can see why the OP is getting blasted.

I just had Camping World install the same system last week. That feature was never mentioned to me when I bought it, nor did I see it in the instruction manual when I got home and read it. I had already thought that I would just hang my keys on the antenna, like I have been, for many years. That has been pretty fail safe, "free" and east to install.
Camping World probably didn't offer it, because it is to difficult for their techs to install and not a profitable installation. If the ignition override was included, for free, would you want someone "untrained" messing with your ignition? Not me!
