So from what I am reading just go ahead and install the MAXXAIR II , and even if the cover comes up and hits the MAXXAIR, The resistience this creats on the motor of my Fantastic Fan will force the motor to stop, and cause no damage to the drive motor on the fan cover ?..Is this correct VACMAN

We have driven down the road many times with vents open and no covers. Years ago this was pretty much your only choice when I had vans in my younger days! The covers are to protect the inside in case of rain or other moisture! They are not required to use your vent when driving.

Here in So. Ca. we don't have as much of a problem with humidity and I live fairly close to the coast that we don't get the intense heat either, course when we do get heat that means no rain for 3-6 months either so I can open vents anyways!

Hundreds if not thousands of Fantastic Fans are in use with standard Maxair covers and all of them are hitting when it raises. It is designed and does cut the power to the motor when it torques out. It does the same with no cover at all. When it reaches the stop it cuts the power. The only difference is with the cover it stops a few inches sooner. Is there a slight difference in airflow? Of course there must be but I doubt that many run it at full speed for any length of time anyway.

That what mine does. There seems to be NO adverse effects. The drive motor is working fine after 3.5 years that I have had this M/H

Just a thought. If the Max Air covers were tall enough to allow the Fantastic cover to open up fully, the Max Air cover would need to be quite a bit taller and could cause height clearance problems. I'm already at 12' to the top of the AC unit and a couple more inches could just make the difference between a mishap and not. Mine seem to work just fine with the Fantastic lid up against the Max Air.

MaxxAir and MaxxAir II are NOT designed to be used with power fans like a Fantantic Fan. They are VENT COVERS not FAN COVERS. Power fans move too much air and the presure build up under the cover gets too high and can damage the cover and fan.

My fiend got a pop up tent trailer with a Fantastic Fan. He has to keep the door open or the side wall will be sucked to far that he it afraid of damage to the walls. It is amazing how much air the fan moves.

FanMate would be the correct cover. It is desiged to move the air better.

Directly from the MaxxAir II web site:

"Can be safely installed over high powered RV ventilator fans; however our Fan/MateĀ® is specifically designed for this application allowing higher air flow from your existing ventilator fan."

At a rally I attended in Frankenmuth, MI a year and a half ago I made arrangements to have Fantastic fans installed in 12 of the vehicles. The installer got help from a VP at Fantastic Vent to help. They put the fan in my bathroom and put the MaxAire cover back on. He said it would not open all the way but would work fine anyhow. We all were upset with noisy fans that moved no air. Wwith the Fantastic Fan in there we only need low speed. At low speed it will suck the door shut. Medium creates a good breeze and high is for emergency use only. The Fantastic fan is so much quiedter, it was well worth the change. It works great with the limiting cover.

MaxxAir recently introduced Fan/Mate 850 it's designed to allow the vent covers to fully open. In my opinion the cost is the big drawback $70.00.
