Is there a campground directory that list all the camp grounds? It appears that Trailer Life RV Park and Campgrounds directory misses a ton of campgrounds.

If you could find one, it would be so large you could carry it with you.

Not sure just what a ton in this context is but I agree that if such a listing did exist it MIGHT approach a ton of weight! LOL.
All such 'directories' only list cgs that are willing to pay the fee to be listed, and information listed is provided by the cg owner/operator.

You can break all the campgrounds down by state. Google : "Campground" "Idaho" "Web pages" This will list all the campgrounds in Idaho that have a web page. For each state just change the state....if you're thinking of staying at a campground and would like to see what people say about it...www.rvparkreviews.com

No. It would probably require a 10 volume set. There are several publications that list a large NUMBER of campgrounds of a given KIND however. If you regularly stay in RV Parks (not campgrounds) it would be a little silly to carry around 10 volums worth of NFS or BLM campgrounds with you.

Here is the best way I have found to find all the campgrounds. Go to www.googlemaps.com, then zoom into the area you would like to see the campgrounds in. OK, now in the search box at the top, type "campground". This is the most complete listing I have seen yet. Things pop up you never knew where there.
Once you have done this, you can also pan the map and all new campgrounds will start popping up.
Hope this helps.

We sort of do this the back door way.

Say we're headed to Disneyworld or some other distant destination. We pick our path and then look at all the campgrounds on the interstates in The Next Exit. It doesn't have every campground in the country, only the ones near interstates. But you'd be surprised how many campgrounds you never knew existed.

If we see one we think might work, then we do google searching to get more information on that particular campground.

Been using 'TrailerLife CD' version for years ~~ find it amazing/amusing that a lot more CG's are in the dark recesses of their stores than 'pop-up' on the screen like their preferred CG's do. Have to ask for them by name ~~ ok so if area is new to me how do I know what CG to ask for. I know a quandry when I run into one.
