We have a 2008 Sundance 3200ES, had a few minor problems that I fixed. We think that this is the best one on the market for the price.

I know most RV owners are loyal to the brand they own and every brand RV will have it's share of problems, but regardless of how well customer service addresses the problems....you are still inconvenienced BIG TIME!!!! "Time is money"... as they say! I would ratter spend my time RVing any day of the week instead of in a service center getting repaired even if the customer service was a wonderful experience! The more inconvenienced I become the more I would be less likely to purchase the same brand again.
Just my 2 cents.

If you found one you like I would say go for it. We have a 2010 Sundance 3200re. The biggest issue we had was the fresh water tank line had to be re-plumbed due to a production flaw as I understood it but has been resolved in the plant. I cant compare service with other manufactures but Heartland seems to be trying hard to please they're customers.Based on my limited experience with them I would buy another product from them and would recommend a Heartland. We really like ours.

I agree 100% and think most do, however; when the problems are things like Furnace, Water heater, Refrigerator your point is less effective. Most of the RV manufacturers buy these items from the same companies, placing more emphases on customer support. I am unaware of any RV manufacturer that makes their own Refers, Furnaces, Air Conditioners, Water Heaters, etc. Most problems I read about are on this equipment not on the RV it's self.

We have an 08 Bighorn 3400RL and like it very much. Between work and pleasure I use it about 6 months of the year, sometimes in extreme cold. I can tell you that it very comfortable to live in, tows well, looks great and in general is a real nice rig. Have I had problems? A few- and Heartland did their part in fixing them. Some were so minor I just dealt with them myself. Would I buy another one? You bet.

I understand this not a 100% Heartland issue, I am just saying I would feel the same way if the brand of car I owned was having problems with different accessories and components that were manufactured from other companies! "WHICH THEY ARE" You don't think about who made or installed the components, you just reflect on the overall bad experience of the BRAND!

But why do these items fail?  It seemed like this was never near the issue ten or fifteen years ago that it is today.  Let’s look at what may have contributed to these failures.

• Poor quality control at the component factory.
• Improper installation at the RV manufacturer level.
• Improper operation or maintenance at the owner level.
• Improper component application at the RV design level.
• Poor material or workmanship.

Most of you will tell me I'm wrong but I think alot of today's complaints and warranty issues is the consumer to lazy to just maintain or fix it himself. Everyone has time to complain here though. I bought a new Jayco in 2008 and it had a 10 amp circuit breaker in the breaker panel instead of a 20amp. I was constantly tripping the breaker. Rather than get on here and start a multiple page war or drag my new Jayco all the way back to the dealer I just called them up and swapped it myself. No biggie, stuff happens. Go out a buy a $300,000 combine or a $150,000 tractor and see how many problems you have

When my friend's Big Horn was new, it seemed like every trip we took, a new problem surfaced. Frame issues (later repaired by the dealer and a local welding shop), axle issues (replaced by the dealer at Heartland's expense), electrical problems (which still bother occasionally), leaking shower unit, hoding tanks chaffing unil they leaked, etc.

We are good friends, but it got so I hated to go camping with them, because all we did was try to repair his problems.

As I said before, heartland has stood behind the unit, but I can see why he says no way to another.

I think in general there are quality issues with RV's in general. Some are workmanship, but most are failing or just plaing cheap components. I have owned several brands including, Jayco, Keystone, and Viking. I have had warranty repairs on all. In all cases the manufacturer has taken care of them. Failures that have occured out of warranty I pretty much take care of myself.

It does seem that manufacturers could ultimately benefit from installing better components and improved workmanship as one would think it would be much easier to deal with problems in the factory rather than paying a dealer to do the repairs.
