I can tell you I've fulltimed in my 08' Bighorn for three years. It's had several problems, most very small, one major. Heartland has taken care of every problem promptly, and without question. I've dealt directly with Heartland, as our dealer went out of business, and since we're fulltiming we're not near any particular dealer anyway.
Larry D...no offense, but I stopped believing what dealers told me many years ago. Heartland has been exceptionally responsive to our needs and many of the other Heartland owners we know, and that's quite a few!
Would I own another Heartland...in a heartbeat!!!

Larry,
You need to call Heartland service directly. They are very responsive when approached professionally. Unfortunately, some dealerships are not truthful. Many have checked with the factory to validate dealer statements and found out the dealer never talked to Heartland or ordered the parts

K.Kamper do you work for Heartland in every post you don't like anyone talking bad about Heartland. I think read my post wrong I was saying that a good dealer will take care of you. So far Heartland has done nothing for me. The dealer we have is great so I will not even bother talking to anyone from Heartland.

A little bit hard for me to talk about what Heartland is like after the sale as I don't have mine yet.
I can tell you this. I have the business cards of both the brand manager and the regional sales manager for Big Country and Elkridge. Both gave me their direct numbers and cell numbers. I have called the regional sales manager a couple of times with questions. He seems very approachable. I met the brand manager this weekend at the Denver RV show. The last thing he said to me as he handed me his card was "call me with any issues."
I would really suggest if you are having issues you do attempt to call the manufacturer. I can't comment on the dealer I ordered my Elkridge from as this is the first time I have dealt with them. This will be our 5th RV. My experience with previous dealers is that when they have told me the manufacturer won't cover an issue I have called direct and always had positive outcomes.

Heartland did stand behind the unit and resolved most of his problems. Recently, I asked him if he would buy another Bighorn. He said no way. He said he had too many problems and too many ruined trips. He said Heartland's customer service was good, but he would not own another. He has ownwd fifth wheels since the 80's and said he had never had a trailer with so many problems.
From what I have read on the Heartland Owners forum, this is a pretty rare response.
We have an Elkridge fifth-wheel on order. Should come be here in a couple of weeks. I really liked the fit and finish of this fifth-wheel. Can't wait to get it.
If you do an archives search, I think you will find that Heartland had a lot of problems early on.
Some of Heartland's executives monitored the forum back then and gave people contact numbers if they had problems. Between that number and the excellent dealer that my friend bought from, most of his issues were resolved. Many of them were resolved (long) after his warranty had expired.
I would say Heartland's customer service was better than average (for him), but, at least their early units, their quality was not very good, compared to other units of the same price.

When my grown kids were inspecting our new fifth wheel, one asked why we bought a trailer that sleeps 4. My reply was that we couldn't find one that sleeps 2!

No Larry...I do not work for Heartland. I have no problem with anyone discussing their problems with their Heartland unit...I've discussed mine before. Just giving my experience in dealing with Heartland, and that of many other owners I've talked to.
You're right a good dealer will take care of you, however, good dealers are few and far between. Most dealers couldn't tell the truth on a bet. Glad to hear you've had good luck with your dealer, most don't!
Not sure what you have wanted Heartland to do for you, but the majority of owners have had an exceptional response in dealing with Heartland Customer Service...sorry it hasn't worked for you.

Heartland continues to actively monitor the Heartland Owners Forum. Several other forums as well. It just makes sense to do so.

We have a Heartland Bighorn 3670RL and have been living in it full time for the 10 months we have had it. It does have some problems and we have dealing with the factory who have been exceedingly good in getting the job done. If you express your problems clearly and nicely you will get a lot farther than yelling, screaming and threatening. This is not to say that any of you have done that but from our experience I can not understand why some people seem to have problems with Heartland service.
