We use Sprint Broadband with unlimited minutes. Speed varies depending on the quality of the tower utilized. We have always had service even in the backwoods. Sometimes the phone service is poor but have always been able to connect to internet with the broadband card.

We have Hughesnet via Motosat and as a backup, a older Verizon Merlin 520 Aircard. Our Aircard is slower than the newer 3G broadband cards, but there are no additional charges for going over a monthly data limit and we both can access the internet on the Aircard using our D-link wireless router at the same time. Still there have been a few times we've had neither service, due to trees and a lack of Verizon coverage, that we used a campground's wi-fi.

If you need internet everywhere you travel then Hughesnet via a Motosat is the only (expensive) way to go. Aircards/broadband have come a long way but there are still a lot of areas without coverage. So if you can live with that they are the way to go (less expensive) plus you can use them while moving.

This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

Another ditto, with the exception of a Wilson amp added to the above.
