My day is almost here, April 1st is my 1st day of retirement. I've been scanning these forums for years and have yet to find the answer that I'm lookig for. I hope to Snowbird some where that the Golf is affordable. I am a "Hacker" (20 hdcp) that refuses to pay big buck$ to play but I do love the game. I want to play 2-3 times a week but I'm on a budget like most folks and have to factor in the cost of Full service Campground to keep the DW happy. Does such a winter area exsist ?? I been thinking of Arizona but may be willing to go anywhere there is affordable golf. Summer golf is already figured out,just working on next winter plans.

Clerbrook Resort north of Clermont, FL, has its own course. I don't know the costs any more.

The RGV(Rio Grande Valley)is a great place for golfers. There are several reasonably priced($25-$35 green fee)golf courses here. From Mission to Brownsville, you will find a course that should suit your needs.
We used to stay at Seven Oaks RV Park, which is in the same complex with Meadow Creek in the Valley Golf Course. It is "typical" of most courses here. Not very long, and fairly easy. I've played there for 3 years now. There are about 5 other golf courses within a 10 mile drive.

I return to Mesa, AZ where you can find prices for golf from reasonable to outrageous. I have a course that charges $20 for 18 holes (includes cart) Another course that every tues & wed it's $30 for 18 including cart. Many couses have specials and coupons in newspapers..varies

If you have Coast 2 Coast, they have a free golf card that you can get every year when you pay your membership fees. My husband uses this card at several courses. The courses are listed by state. He is an avid golfer and always finds good deals.

Hey Grammie---what or where is coast 2 coast? That sounds like a good deal. I to like golf at a price I can afford.

The Brickyard in Americus Ga, 27 holes, free golf if you stay in the park on a monthly basis. 5 if less. The course is actually a great value for $5.
For more variety, you might try the RGV. We walk 18 holes on several courses for $21-25, all of which are nearly equal in quality to courses in other parts of the country that charge double and triple the price during winter months. Some of the courses in the RGV have seasonal pricing that gets the price down even lower if you want dont want as much variety.

Coast to Coast is a membership camping where you have to be a member of a home park (campground) and pay the annual membership fees that can range from $250 - $1500 per year. Usually you then get 30 days free camping at that park but discount fees at other coast to coast parks across the country...usually around $10 a night. You have an initial entrance fee to join coast to coast than a annual fee for that also. If you're a full timer and don't return to the home park, you're paying membership fees to that home park just for the discount fees staying at other coast to coast parks. Coast to coast isn't everywhere so many times you can't use the discounted fees. Then most have a time limit of 10 days maximum to stay, you then have to leave..not good if you're wintering for several months in the south.

WE are currently at Publeo El Mirage just outside of Phoenix. The resort is fabulous and the golf course is a Fuzzy Zeller designed 18 hole championship course. We are paying $26.00 a round to walk and $31.00 to ride. Very walkable though. Lots of great activities in the resort and around this area. Great bike paths which go for miles, wonderful mountain hiking, lots of dinner shows in the area and of course a casino nearby. This is our fourth winter and already booked our site for next year. Don't know much about golf, but I do know that some parks in the RGV have their own Par 3 courses. Residents play all they want for free.
