There's really only one campground within walking distance of some shows, and that Musicland. Unless you have a very small rig, it's a tight campground. The KOA is a good one, in fact, one of the best KOA's I've been to.
Personally, I'd prefer Cooper Creek. It's right on Lake Taneycomo and near the shows, but you'd never know it. Easy access to the shows from Green Mountain Drive which is near the campground.
Branson Lakeside(old city campground)is right on Lake Taneycomo and within walking distance of Branson Landing shopping area. This used to be our favorite, but when they took over half of it for BL parking, it changed.
Not a big fan of ABC, it's a parking lot with hookups, and narrow spaces. I still haven't figured out why it's been voted the best.

We've stayed at ABC a number of times. This past summer, though, we decided to be different and stayed at the Stagecoach RV Park and wish we had found it much earlier. Very nice with a pretty easy drive from the south across the dam and into town. They also have a shuttle to town if you wish to use a shuttle. Decent restaurant on premise also.
As others have said, there is no cg close to all the shows. If you plan on going to Silver Dollar City several days, I would stay at Compton Ridge or Tall Pines. We enjoyed both of them and they have plenty of trees. If you want to be closer to the shows, still only walking distance to a few of the shows and short drive to most of the others, I would stay at MusicLand. It is right in the middle of everything, very quiet, walking distance to several restaurants, has plenty of trees and very nice people. It is a little tight getting in, but the people there direct you and do an excellent job getting you in, once you are there, it is peaceful. We love the location and it is easy to stay out of most of the traffic if you use the alternate routes. Traffic there, has never really been a problem to us. Every time we have been there, there are plenty of big rigs in there. You may have to walk up a small hill though to go to the pool if don't take your car. Didn't seem like a lot to do for kids there.
According to members of our camping club who go to Branson several times a year, the best campgrounds are on Table Rock Lake, the COE access areas (at least half a dozen). These are campgrounds, not RV parks, and they are not walking distance to all of the Branson attractions, which are not all in one place. You would be 30 to 60 minutes from the center of Branson, depending on which campground and traffic conditions (can be horrid).
They usually go to take one or two of their grandchildren for a camping, hiking, fishing experience, and a day at Silver Dollar City.
If you are thinking about going to one particular attraction, and you hope to walk, then you would be looking for the RV park closest to that attraction. It won't be a campground. Closest thing to Silver Dollar City is The Wilderness at Silver Dollar City, basically their analog of Fort Wilderness at WDW: RV Sites, RV rentals, and campsites for campers.
We took a group of 14 units to Branson last July and we styayed at the KOA. It is a very nice campground and the people there are A-1. They arranged all the tickets for our group to various shows. Can drive the back street to most of the major shows and restaurants.
We toured ABC and it is comparable, but not as well located to down town.

Another vote for Comptons Ridge, been there several times. Not a fan of ABC either and have stayed there twice.
