I have had both and much prefer the cap as I haul two bikes, gen, lots of odds and ends and I want them secure. My son had a new TV with the tonneau cover with his brand new EU2000 Gen under it. Someone cut the soft top and stole his gen, golf clubs, tools etc. He now has a hard top. Of coarse someone can get in them also but not quite as easy

We've had both and prefer the cap. You got answers liking both. Guess you'll have to make up your own mind.

I'm looking at a cap right now with no windows, no side access and a tilt down front window to clean the back glass on the pu cab. Also, looking at a bed slide.

The Cap, and the biggest, tallest one you can find. No matter what you get you'll find you never have enough room. Yeah, bigger is better!

Cleaning the windows! That never crossed my mind. Good point.

Also, thanks to all for your thoughts.

Cap colour matched to your truck finishes it off perfectly. Add a bed rug too.

cap will give better fuel economy towing, cover is easier to get things out of bed, (open cover, lean over side of bed). Ordered a cap for her truck 2 weeks ago, replacing a back flip cover. That cover is a piece of cr@p. replace once under warranty, and now has failed again. truck is 22 months old, pretty bad a 1k cover won't last a whole year without leaking, and bowing. If you go for the cover, avoid them.

Hi I had a cap on my last TV and I am waiting for my new cap to be made and come in for my new truck. Always been nice to have the extra storage and dry firewood...LOL (before when I could bring it with) Mine is cab hi and colored matched but I also got a removable front slider and "windoors" on the sides, It's what they call the windows which open like doors on the side. I had them on the old truck and It works well getting stuff from the front of the bed. Never had a cover and never will. I do have friends with them and either they like them or hate them. (I think those who like'em never use 'em) It's going to be your call on which to get.Good Luck

I have had several types. The vinyl snap on was a good one to use but the sag in the rain and the wood bows to hold it up were a PIA. The hard one-piece tonneau cover looks good but was hard to use when things get to the front of the bed. I had an Escalade EXT and that cover was the best system for a tonneau type cover. I now have a cap with a bed rug and prefer that for our use. Our son has a roll type tonneau cover and it leaks, he doesn’t like it.
