The motorhome would have been driven from the factory to the dealer in suitable condition for cold storage or transit in sub-freezing weather. Ask him why he thinks he needs to winterize it.

Maybe they want to know if they should LEAVE it winterized?

We are talking about 12$ worth of antifreeze! Tell them to use their judgement. Don't sweat the small stuff!

1. If you do not pick up for 3 weeks, it is DUMB to prep right now. Most Rv's are winterized from the factory during the winter months. It should be prepped the week before the scheduled customer delivery.
2. The dealer should check out the unit prior to delivery, that means a COMPLETE PDI. So, at our dealership, during the cold winter months, we do a complete PDI and then AS A COURTESY, To OUR valued customer, we ask if they want it winterized at our cost, not to them. WE do it once, we even will help to un-winterize when they decide to use it later.
3. YOU HAVE JUST FOUND OUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BUYING LOCALLY AND THE OUT OF STATE GREAT DEAL FROM ANOTHER LOWER COST DEALER. They figure they will never see you again and to hell with the little things that designate a valued customer. Doug

I'm guessing he's asking if you want it LEFT winterized NOT should he winterize it. It would need to have been winterized to be moved from the factory to the dealer and more than likely the water system was tested at the factory.

you emphasized the OUR valued customers...is this also a "to hell with the rest" attitude?....appears to be IMHO, of course

I bought my current MH in April (early) and the dealer went through everything with the water system in full operation, and then showed me how to winterize before we left the dealer because there was a possibility of more freezing weather before summer. This was General RV in Wayland, MI. No question asked, just done because of the chance of freezing.

Most motorhomes are delivered to the dealer winterized but the PDI would probably dewinterize the MH.

The dealer seems to have asked you if you want it winterized again and you did not state if they was going to charge you for the winterization. Did you ask if there would be a charge?

Why would you winterize it? New MH shouldn't have any water or waste until arrival at dealer and they begin prepping it for delivery.
Huh??? And how do you think they check their plumbing and connections? Not only do they put water in the systems, but the manufacturers I've seen sanitize the system before it leaves the factory to rid it of anything it might have picked up in building.

Winterizing? I got my (new) motorhome in the spring...not being winterized, all the water systems could (and were) checked out before delivery to me.

As far as winterizing from the factory...I thought that was more or less standard practice....as when attending winter RV shows, I think I remember seeing the pink stuff around...
