As the OP of this thread,I will update our opinion of the RGV. We left last Wed to the Hill country near Boerne TX. We forfited two days camping fees to leave early,(my wife wanted to leave two weeks early). I think the main reason people go to the RGV is ,it is CHEAP. There is little to see, just flat land. Lots of traffic, with very bad local drivers. There are some very nice parks, with lots of activities, but the wind and blowing dirt make it hard to stay outside. I picked up a map of the area at a gas station, and My wife said I could use it when I bring my NEXT wife to the RGV.

Sorry, restorodder, but, it was cold and windy (probably not as windy as Mission, though)in south Florida this year, too. But, two years ago, they had the warmest February on record, it was in the mid to high 80's all month. You just don't know what to expect. Next year will probably be fine. And, my DW also says that if it's going to be too cold to enjoy being outside, we might as well stay home. Needless to say, as soon as we left Florida to come home, it got warm.

Just type in RV Park Hunter. The page will come up and you can select any state and it list all of the 'better' ie; more amenities and usually slightly higher in price parks. We have travelel all the 48 states and find it very reliable. We are running out of places to go as we have done the 48, AK 3 trips, every province in Canada except Manitoba and loved Newfoundland/Labrador. Have been all over MX twice. Have almost 90,000 miles on our 03 Dutch Star. Just celebrated 81st birthday with plans to drive til I'm 90.

We will be leaving the beautifull hill country on Wed. I don't want to go,but DW says we must be home on the 26th,and we must vist our daughter on the way. I am hopeing to stall a few days if I take her to Branson on our way home. The last 2 weeks here in hill country has been great, temp in the 70's,and only one day of rain. Still not finished visiting all our favorite towns, and antique shops.

Seems a shame after enduring this winter to leave now, since the weather is at last getting nice. Even though spring has sprung up north, there still is ice on the lake.

Here in florida it has not been a nice winter, but I can't say it's been horrible either.
One thing for sure is even if it's cool there is lots to see and do, so you can't get to the beach....now you can, this certainly isn't the time for us to go back up to NY.
We're due to leave on April 15th, we're changing that to leave May 1st.
