Several are leaving here also in the next few days. I am wondering why also. We are staying till 4/09 and taking 2 weeks or so at other places before heading home.(Rockport area, Galveston and the Baton Rouge/New Orleans area) Depending on the weather of course. It is way too cold at home (northern Michigan) to even think about returning yet in my opinion.

There are people who like to move to a different area.... different experiences. Last year we left the RGV Feb. 28 and went to Port Aransas on Mustang Island for the month of March.
The further south you live, such as northern Texas, Oklahoma, etc., the sooner the temperatures start warming up. Some friends of ours just left last weekend because they live in northern Texas. We don't head home until April because Minnesota can still get snowstorms the first part of April.

Yea, I'm thinking "everyone" is a pretty wrong term. There has been NO ONE leaving our park, Green Gate Grove, across the street from you. We're leaving the first of April, but ONLY because I've got a board of directors meeting I must attend at our campground in Missouri the first week of April. IF it weren't for that, we'd be here until the first of May.

I'm not a snowbird...YET! Still working full time. Just drove from lower Michigan to Rochester, NY today. Driving INTO the storm to visit MIL. When we got here I told DW that this time of year, when I drive 8 hours, I don't want to see any snow when I get out of the vehicle. I'm glad MIL is so happy to see us, but I'd come see her if she lived somewhere warm too.
Keep warm everyone!

Early this week I walked through the overflow area in the front of the park and every site was occupied. Yesterday I was at the laundry, and saw that one whole row was empty. While we were doing our laundry 3 or 4 rigs left the park. This morning I noticed a couple more empty sites on my street alone. We will move to Boerne TX next week, but no way am I heading home. We went back to SPI today for Market day,and visited the bird sanctuary. My wife loved that.

horseylady wrote: Is it warm anywhere in Florida? We're near Orlando, leaving next Wed., 3/3 and want to go farther south in FL. Looking at Pine Island KOA and trying to find reviews. Lake Okeechobee KOA (Pahokee) but reviews not good. Trying not to spend $100/night or would go to the Keys.
The island will be 4-5* cooler than inland. Water temps for the gulf are still in the 60's. The KOA on Pine Island is a nice enough park, but it's 30 miles from everything.
Personally I trend to use the seedier (cheaper) parks because there is nothing inside the parks that'll compare to what you find outside the parks. Pictures around Ft. Myers
But there are several nicer parks. Indian Creek on San Carlos Blvd is nice. Close to the beach, but you'll pay for that. Plus it's about time for spring break so the traffic to the beach will be murder.
I stay at Fox Mobile Home Park in North Fort Myers. They're trying to upgrade it. they have wi-fi, and today they got the connection to accept credit cards. (I hope they don't raise the prices.)
But there are plenty of vacancies everywhere. Come down and look around. It's not real warm here, but several days they've claimed to be the warmest spot in the nation. The keys aren't much fun in cooler weather. Too much moisture and wind off of the ocean!

We were planning on heading back mid-March, but now we're probably gonna wait till mid April. Too cold up north.

People ARE moving around.
We are in Bentsen Grove near the office. We have noticed about 3 trailers arriving just this weekend during the time that we have been "home" in the park.
We also talked to a neighbor who is heading to Big Bend in western Texas for a few weeks.
And.... a neighbor said they need to leave for Tennessee tomorrow because the flowers will be blooming in two weeks in the Smoky Mountains National Park and they do volunteer work in the park.
