I spent a week looking and researching was going to buy a 465T. But being as I no longer operate a Semi why spend the bucks. Also most of the ones sold at Amazon or almost every online are refurbished why waste the money.

I ordered one yesterday morning so I guess there will be two of us doing a "product review".

I spent a lot of time reading about all the Nuvi's and everyone of them had something wrong with it. I think the operator might have something to do with it, we shall see.

I have the Nuvi 765T I believe, don't find anything wrong with it other than I need to replace the charging connector. But, mine works really well though IMHO better tahn tomtom too though it isn't perfect.

These threads come up once in awhile (for good reasons too ) however while I usually and rarely have no problems I still fear when a GPS gives me wrong directions and I get into a major bind so I wished these things would be more accurate in that respect; I understand that companies change or streets change or there is a detour, etc those things are unavoidable but updated maps can help (at least once a year).

I had or I should say still have a Garmin Delux V GPS. Any way a couple of years ago we were traveling from the Sierra's we were on our way home, in San Diego we were outside Victorville,(on 395) and then wanted to go the Big Bear for a couple of days. I put in Big Bear shortest route (wrong) Followed the route what a horror story that turned out to be.The GPS routed us up Highway 138, glad we were only in a 30ft Class-C not pulling a 5ver with my P/U.

So what was the big reason to go with 765T instead of 465T? They do seem identical with the exception of POI for trucks. I suppose one can download the low clearance POI. I was sold on the 465T but now am looking at 765T for one main reason - FM transmitter. I have bad hearing and with that 460 screaming away, I am thinking the audio through the stereo system (that's what the FM transmitter is for, right?) I would be able to hear commands better.

I have the 465T, and when you put it in truck mode, it does a nice job of letting you know that there is a low something or other up ahead.
When you put it in Auto mode, it does not give you that same information. Now with that being said, in the truck mode, it will not let you track to a campground, and it only wants to put you on the main roads, as a trucker would use. To me it was a waste of my money. While I do like the unit, I have to have it in the auto mode, or else it may not let me on the roads to where the campgrounds are.

WOW, won't track to a campground? That is vital information I didn't see on any reviews. Thanks.

I assume you got it 5 minutes ago!

Mine has been delivered to Indio where I will be in 7 days so I gotta wait.

So, has it got you lost yet? Have you updated the maps? My friends updated their 265 and it took 3 hours.

To answer another poster, I bought it because it came with the 100 bucks worth of lifetime map upgrades. If you bought the 465, you would have to spend another 100 bucks for map upgrades.

the 765T does have an FM transmitter, I tried it and while it works good it doesn't last long enough because the idea is to use it on an unused FM station where there is static, if there is no static it will not work.

That being said, when you are en-route unused stations in one place may be used another place 80 miles away and you have to hunt for another unused station.

It would be nice if you could setup another FM radio that can/would receive signals from the 765T without interruption and not have to change the stations.

I admit the FM transmitter is pretty worthless near the big cities, because there are no gaps in the band quiet enough to use it. I use the hardwire cable to input to the radio if the radio accepts it. Most of the rental cars I get have the input jack. It really helps with the jack because I listen to audio books through the NUVI.
