Another way to get that broken stud is by getting a nut bigger than the stud and MIG welding it ,I had 2 on my 454 tried all kinds of tools but this was by far the easiest&cheapest way to remove the stud

I can't speak for the Banks......I've never owned a set.......but, I used to pull over a the bottom of the "Grape Vine" and let my wife drive the tow car over it..........now I just power over it and leave my buddy with a V10 in the rear view mirror.........
Everything behind my Thorley headers is Banks though.......

Jim83Itasca wrote: RUNDLC wrote: OK you guys will the thorleys give the same pulling power up grades as the banks? My main reason for even wanting this upgrade is to try and tackle some grades. We were going towards the California coast and had to pull a grade going up hwy 157, man I had the thing floored and was doing maybe 38 MPH, thank god it was late and there weren't that many cars behind me.
I think with a grade like that I want to see around 48-52 mph. If the Thorleys won't make that much of a difference then I don't want them.
I could care less about added mileage I just need power.
That will depend on the components behind the collectors....
Jim Jim is right about that. That is what I found out when I first put the Thorleys on the 454. I was fairly disappointed by the small improvement. Once I got the muffler situation straightened out, I was then able to take advantage of the extra power of the headers. Headers with the correct exhaust will make a very significant difference in power. The 460 has a reputation for poor breathing, which means there is a significant potential for improvement. While this is just straight opinion, I doubt your butt meter would be able to measure the difference between the 2, assuming the rest of the exhaust is done right.

Kinda what I figured too, Right now my plan would be to use 3" pipe from the "Y" thru a freeflow cat and the thru a banks muffler and 3" tip.
I am going to separate the Workhorse banks kit that I have and use everything from the "Y" back. I will just try and sell the banks headers with the part that would connect to the muffler here is a pic.
I hope I can use this muffler, now that I look more closley it has 2 in 1 out hmmmmm maybe I can still make it work.

Forgot to say thanks on this one! I won't know how it broke off until I can get the mani off, I pray there would be something to weld too.
Good advice

I would love to see a picture of everything installed..........it's much tighter under there than you might think.......I hope you know a good pipe fabricator......as there is very little in that picture that is going to be usable underneath a Ford chassis..........
You know...for about $500 or so you can buy a ready made muffler kit from Banks that will fit your chassis exactly..........no welding or bending required......everything is bolt together.........

Going on 9 years with our Banks exhaust system.

Hey 96 I follow you on that, I knew I would be in for a lot of work if I tried a mix match job. I was just an idea though and in all likelihood I will use your suggestion. I will find out exactly what the exhaust kit will run.

Well after much searching I was able to find a never mounted set of Thorleys!! I had to spend 75.00 more than 96Bounder but I am ok with it, I do need to invest another 105.00 to get the "y" pipe from Thorley. I figure with shipping, tax & installation I should be in the 700-800 range for a complete system, which will be about a third of the banks setup, which in this economy I can live with! Here are a couple of pics of the headers, I hope to get picked up in the next day or so.
