Both slides I have owned just stall the motor at the end of the travel, the same way that power windows work. I'm not saying every one works this way, but it's sure a lower cost and less failure-prone way to design it. My current slide uses a controller that senses the added motor current when the slide stalls, and cuts off the motor. The previous rig didn't have this, it's just stalled the motor until you let go of the switch. Possibly yours has a mechanical stop that's not doing its job.

On my power gear slides what shuts it off is removal of my finger from the button
I visited the power gear web site and downloaded the service manual... Look for the thread on sheared slide out bolts, the link is in there, it 404'ed on me but I stripped it down and it worked... Hold on and I'll see if I can find the home page. http://www.powergearus.com/ found it Just follow the links from there to the technical manuals and the slide out service manual
