As you have already heard, you may have to be ready to deal with snow that time of the year yet. You may want to rethink the aspect of electrical hookups, just for having heat at night! For that reason, you may want to consider reservations at Flying Bridge just to insure having hookups.

I think you mean Fishing Bridge. The NPS has has announced that Fishing Bridge RV Park will not have electrical hookups for the 2010 season.

No matter what campground you are in, you aren't there to hang out in the campground. When in Yellowstone, you spend most of your time out and about in the park. The time you spend in the campground is usually just breakfast, dinner and sleeping.

You certainly picked the right time to visit this park.....The only people in there are fellow RVers, so you pretty much have the park to yourself...........I don't think the park officially opens all of the campgrounds until sometime in June.

Be prepared to dry camp!

It will be a GREAT trip.

If you decide on June try for reservations now. We will be going in September to one of the campgrounds where you cannot make reservations and are hoping we can get a site as nice as we got last time.

As they say, there are only three seasons in Yellowstone: July, August, and winter.

I worked at Madison last year the Good Lord willing, I will be back there this year. That said, I am a bit prejudiced toward my campground and the folks who work there. It is located 14 miles from the West Gate and easy to get just about anywhere in the Park. My second favorite campground would be Canyon. Five campground are run by Xanterra, the Park's concessionaire and 7 are run by the NPS. As a general rule, the NPS campgrounds tend to be smaller and generally fill up quickly in the main summer month. All of the Xanterra sites are by reservations only and do tend to have larger sites for RV's. Stop by and say "HI", I will one of the hosts there.

The Five campgrounds in Yellowstone that are administered by Xanterra are: Bridge Bay, Canyon, Grant Village, Madison, and Fishing Bridge RV Park. The other seven campgrounds at Yell are adminstered by the Park Service.
