Would anyone in the Austin TX area have an idea about how to rent a camper van / conversion van for camping locally? An RV is expensive and we are not traveling, just wanting to camp with some comfort during a long weekend in April for a local bluegrass music festival. Thanks ya'all!

You might ask the moderators to move this post up to the Class B / CVC forum.

Thanks. I asked the moderator to move this to the camper van forum. I looked at the American Dream rental and it seems quite expensive for just camping locally and not travelling. Am I crazy or should I expect to have to pay $150/day?

After seeing the rental prices on Class C's a couple of years ago $150/day sounds like a good deal! Take it from us - you'll enjoy a Class B!

I think you won't find a better price than $150 a day.
Remember, motels can cost about that much with meals and all...
A Class B (a newer one) is much better than a car or a cargo van. Depending on how many people are going to sleep in it, you might look at a minivan. A friend of mind did to go cross country. He just added a Porti-potti and an air mattress in the back.

You _might_ find a small Class C rental cheaper. Cruise America has some 19'-20' ones on a SRW E-350, tho' I have no idea of what they rent for or if they're available in your area. No longer than a B, and just a bit wider.

FYI on the west coast there are rentals available for prices like $50/day more or less. that's reasonable. i have an suv and want a camper van to get more comfy than craw1ing in the back of the car onto an air mattress. all your comments are helpful, thanks!
