Jerry, I think you should replace both heads and add good quality headers. You already have the intake manifold off, plus numerous other parts so why go through this again to replace the left side later. More cost for gaskets, etc again later and you know its a PITA to get to the engine compartment to do the work so why go through it twice. You may want to replace the water pump if it is fairly old while you have all this apart.I know your concern was the cost of doing all this work, but sometimes more expense equates to less headache down the road. Your main culprit is heat and a good set of headers will help alot. Like everyone else said Banks or Thorley. JMO. Wireman

UGGH! heads are on, Banks Headers installed. all buttoned up.... BIG exhaust Leak!
It appears the the fresh air intake/emissions******is not allowing the header to sit flush against the heads!!
Anyone have a Ford 460 EFI with Bank System installed? Love to hear your feedback.
TIA

scottg22,
I have a 1997 Rexhall F53 chassied motorhome (chassis build date March 1997). I installed the complete Banks Powerpack package and Transcommand over the 2006-2007 winter. Did the install myself and it was a piece of cake-about the easiest bolt-on I ever did (and have been doing similar things for around 50 years). The air injection emissions fit perfectly. When installing the headers, I just initially threaded the air injection tubes to the headers (did not final tighten) then torqued the headers to the heads, then went back and did the final tightening on the air injection fittings. After a ~100 mile shakedown run (requiring nothing) left for Alaska for a 54 day, 8,000 + mile trip. No exhaust leaks or other problems on the trip and none since. Followed all of the instructions to the "T." You, or your installer might want to give Banks a call. Anytime I had the slightest question, I called them and they always connected me to the guys in the shop (I am pretty much a stickler for specs and details). Got good, professional information. That's about the only advice I have, because all worked fine for me. If you lived in Colorado, I would drop by to see if I could help, but that is not the case. Do give Banks a call. I have only had positive experiences with them. Good luck in getting things resolved.

I didn't install mine on my 97 unit (I hired someone to do it) but it seemed to work flawlessly with Banks. No problems so far. Call Banks Monday.
