OK, Algodones it is. But from all of the recommendations for Algodones you only made two recommendations for specific dentists. And those were both made by one person. Really, that is not much encouragement. Come on people how about some more names and phone numbers. So I can call to make appointments.
I will be about 200 miles North at Mohave Valley. Thats a long drive just to find I can't get in that day or even that week.
Please, look at your receipts and come up with a name and Phone number.
Also one person mentioned a large parking lot at the border owned by Indians. Is that maybe an Indian casino?

Jeez...you want me to do all the work. Where's all the fun in that? OK websites are www.rollinrollin.com/mexico/castro.htm
V.Castros phone in Mexico - 01152 658 517 7606.
www.dentalbernal.com
Carlos Castanedo phone in Mexico - 01152 658 517 3237
Phone - USA 1-928-328-8237 or 1-602-441-6479
I was in Yuma just last week. My daughter had her appt. with Carlos. This time of year there is no line to get back to the USA. January, there will be a wait.
To get there take the I-8 exit (in CA exit #166)to Los Algodones. At the exit on the SW side is a new Indian Casino. Keep going south past the casino and the sad looking RV park until you see a cyclone fence on the right. Before the fence there is a driveway to the entrance of a very large parking lot. Enter and park your car as near to the road as you can. Go down the steps to the sidewalk turn right and go about 50 feet through the gate and into Mexico. I can't do any better than this unless you want to hire me as a guide. Once in Mexico, everything is pretty much in a three square block area. It is easy to be overwhelmed by so many Dentists, Pharmacys, eye glass, etc. in such a small area. Without knowing who you are going to see, can't be more specific. Your walk in Mexico will be short. Try the Shrimp Tacos for lunch. Tasty and only $1.00 each. Seriously if I can be of further help PM me.
As I stated, most folks are reluctant to refer. Personal preferances enter into the equation. I did the same thing you are doing several years ago. Someone refered me to Castro, so I ran with it. If you were given 10 choices, how would you choose? Somewhere along the way you fish or cut bait.

Al....some folks, for health reasons, prefer to drive across, I prefer to walk, but wouldn't be opposed to driving via San Luis in order to eliminate the wait at the LA border crossing. Getting out before the liquor flows is not always an option with dental work scheduled during peak snowbird season.....\

Here is the clinic I used last Jan. Baja Dental located in the Plasa Gisela. I believe the phone number is 658-517-3223.The dentist name I used was Dr. Debra and she was wonderful. I had a 3 tooth bridge replaced for a cost of 480 bucks. My dentist here in Calgary wanted 3800 bucks, and when I got home I went to him and he told me that they did a very good job. If you know what you want then go early in the morning on your first visit and after make your appointment around 9.00 AM and you will be in and out and across the border before the liquor stores open, and I was there in peak snowbird time. I was also able to buy liquor by picking up what I wanted prior to 11.00 AM and wait for the till to open at 11.00 and walked to the border and got through in less than 15 minutes. By the way I did this on two other occasions during January as I also bought reading glasses from this same company.

Marv,
OK you nailed me. I know, I'm just plain lazy. But If you weren't such a soft touch and a well known ***** cat who rumbles and roars to make yourself sound mean people like me wouldn't take advantage of you.
Fish or cut bait. Hell, sometimes you have to do one to do the other.
Now than if I could just talk you into paying the bill. But I suppose you would balk at that.
I thank you very much for the very detailed information.

Gemstone,
Thanks for the link but I had already gone there before I asked for personal reference's. The name's of thirty or fourty dentists don't do much good with out phone numbers and reference's.

Speaking of money, this is what my daughter (age 38) had done on her visit for a total of $1040.00.
Gum surgery for an infection. Broken molar pulled, a root canal, two porclean crowns, X-rays, two cavities filled, and teeth cleaned. After all that (2 days) she actually liked the dentist, and is going back in January for a bridge.

Tell us what it would have cost at your own dentist in the US? I have told people here that they could afford to take a vacation in the Yuma area, go to Algodones for treatment and still have money left over for the savings versus what they would have paid at their regular dentist.

I have a friend who is driving down (1700 miles round trip) for an appointment Oct 5th. She despertly needs two crowns replaced, and two additional ones. Dentist quoted her $1800.00 to replace two crowns. Same work in Algodones $330.00. To replace two and two more new crowns under $700.00. A savings of $2900.00. Even as a stand alone journey it can save you money. If your going to be in the area anyhow, all the better.
