I go to Algodones Mexico for my dental, eye glasses, and meds. Just west of Yuma.

I can certainly see the up side of San Luis....there are virtually no re-entry lines, but little to offer in the way of services. Wonder how the drive to LA (Los Algodones) would be from San Luis, on the south side of the border ?

We go to Algodones, Mexico also. Haven't been to San Luis on the other side.
A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

At one time, San Luis, was what Algodones is now. Everything moved to Algodones years ago. The only thing San Luis has going for it now, is the duty free store. All eyeglasses, dentists, and meds come out of Algodones. Excellent service!

Why not just drive on the north side of the border from San Luis to Algodones. It's not far and I bet the roads are better and a lot safer too. When you get there, then park in that huge parking lot that the Indians have then walk across the border.

To answer your question. I can recommend based on past experience only, two dentists in Algodones. Virginia Castro or Bernal Dental group. I recommend based on the following work performed for my family.
Wife and myself have had a total of 5 crowns and three fillings done by Maria at Castros office 2-3 years ago. More recently my daughter had a root canal, oral surgery (infection) work, two crowns, one filling, along with x-rays and cleaning by Carlos at Bernals office.
I would return to either office.
Please take into account that my recommendation is based solely on my families experience and no one elses. There are probably war stories associated with any dentist. There are so many Dentist choices in Algodones, one can only hope to make a wise choice, good luck!

This site will help you.
We have had work done by a Dentist in Algodones but I cannot locate the info right now. I will search further and edit this post if I can find the info.
My Wife had three Crowns done, along with cleanings for both of us for under $500.00 US.
Good Luck
Found the old posting hen you walk across the Border into Algodones, stop at the first four corners you come to. Turn right at the four way corners and walk about 100 steps towards the West. Stop and look across the street to see The Oasis Drug Store. Cross the street and at the Drug Store Oasis ask for Juan. He speaks English and Spanish and acts as Agent for you. He has Optician and Dentistry right alongside the Pharmacy. Dr. Luis Villagran, DDS, is our Dentist. See above posting. See Juan. Good Luck

"Why not just drive on the north side of the border from San Luis to Algodones"
To eliminate the looooooonnnng wait coming back across during peak snowbird season. San Luis has virtually no wait time, LA could be 2 hours standing mostly in the hot sun, or idling just as long in your vehicle.

Get your work done before the liquor stores open and there is no wait, and why would you drive over the border at Algodones, when a short walk would do?
