A small trailer pulled by a truck with a bed big enough for the motorcycle or scooter of your choice would be a far cheaper alternative than a B pulling a motorcycle trailer.

You need a fridge full of snacks everytime you stop?
Storing the bike inside the van would be an option if the van were big enough but i dont think the used vans i'm looking at would accommodate a scooter without much inconvenience.
Only kidding about the snacks. Still have the motorcycle endorsement on my license but these days I ride a bicycle enough to negate the effects of the snacks I do eat!
The DIY route can get you a flexible layout at a reasonable price but it is not for everybody.
I do have this strong inclination towards a van being able to carry some cargo when desired.

I'm really liking the enclosed trailer idea as you can put a whole bunch of stuff in there that would otherwise clutter the van as well as an easy place to store the scooter.

That's just what we do, and it works like a charm.
Wells Cargo 6 x 12 Vnose Aluminum trailer, single axle, electric brakes, ramp rear door, side door, raised the roof 6" (still shorter than our PW), insulated walls and ceiling, lotsa tiedowns. We can put any "bike" from our Vespa scooter to our Goldwing (DW likes 'em both) in there and have it out ridin' in minutes. Enroute, everything inside the trailer is safe, secure, stays clean, and is outa sight outa mind for peering eyes. 'Tis wonderful for us. With the 'wing loaded, we tip the scales at about 3,000 lbs. With the Vespa, nearer 2,500 lbs.
When towing, I have to keep looking in the mirror to see if it's still back there. So far, so good.
Keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down.
Cheers.
