I don't agree about Craigslist. I have had really good luck and no bad experiences here in AZ both buying & selling on Craigslist. You just have to use the same good sense everywhere.

If you have an Ontario drivers license, you cannot register nor insure the car in Arizona. You would have to import it to Canada (i.e. drive it across the border), then register and insure it in Ontario before bringing it back to Arizona. You can get a temporary permit (90 days??) to drive it in Arizona after you buy it, but you need to insure it in Ontario.
Once again someone knows nothing of what they speak... or in this case post.
If you we're dumb enough to bring it back to Ontario for plates, you'd have to bring it home every second year for a drive clean test if you live in southern Ontario.
Canadians routinely own, insure and license cars, off road ATV's and buy houses in Arizona. Stop by the local ADOT office for details. Just don't try to drive it back into Canada for the weekend.
Just to set the record straight, I wrote this based on my personal experience with Arizona DOT. I bought a Razor ATV in early 2009 and they told me that I definitely could not license it for street use because I did not have an Arizona license (I have an Alberta one). They did let me register is so I could use it for off road only. Not sure why the difference with others stories, but I have since contacted them again and they have now confirmed that I can license it. When I get back in the fall, I am going to go down in person again and try to license it and if that works, will then get a car.

bjbear, you might have just been unfortunate and got some bad information from their licensing dept.
I have my Polaris Ranger insured and street legal in AZ.
I am insured by Progressive, very reasonable I might add.
cheers,

What's the big deal anyway, the one accident I had in Yuma was with a Yuma Freight lines truck being driven by an Mx. illegal and all he got was a slap on the wrist and his company paid the damages so I guess we should be good to go; right? Tongue in cheek here!
Today is just the tomorrow you worried about yesterday!

Just thought I would update this post as the question about Canadians insuring and licensing vehicles in AZ comes up regularily. When I originally bought my ATV down here in AZ, I contacted ADOT via their secure on-line e-mail and the reply I got back was that I could register it, but NOT get a street plate for it. I did register it and drove it for a year.
As a result of the minor "flame" from "Gruffy", I just went back to ADOT yesterday. They were happy to give me a steet plate. They did not have an explaination why the first info from them was wrong. Now I wish I had bought a jeep instead of the ATV!!
