We're making plans to visit Houston for a month. Anyone have any info on the RV parks there? Is the Safari Mobile Home Community in a decent part of the area (it's in League City, SE of Houston). We're looking for a safe, quiet area that allows a dog, a big fifth-wheel and two adults under 55.

Thanks for any input.

Safari is in an area that is SAFE enough, but it is a long haul to anywhere except the dog track.
I would suggest you look at some other alternatives.
For example:
Forest Retreat northeast of town off hwy 59 is more expensive, but a whole lot nicer. It would also be more convenient for most destinations in Houston.

It depends on what you like to do on weather you should be north if houston or south. We live south because we like the water. We think their is more to do for us pm me if you would like more info.

We've stayed at Rayford Crossing just north of Houston. The Woodlands are nearby. Wife took a shuttle bus into downtown for a quilt show. $6.00 in and out. Rayford a nice park but perhaps a tad $$$. They have a dog walk area and even provide the poop bags. Conroe is a bit north with Malls as well.

There is a nice park on South Main. Forgive me, but I think the name is Lakeside or Lakeview. It is owned by the folks at Allstar Campground. We drove by it and it looks like a realy nice park. HOWEVER, that is all I know about it. We will probably try it sometime when go to Houston for the weekend.

Y'all have fun now!!

Thanks, folks! Great input. I went to RVparkreviews.com (or something like that) and the particular park in question received favorable ratings. Since Larry and I are working full-timers (musicians/entertainers) we pick the campsite before booking the gigs within an hour radius. Thankfully, this one checks out OK. If we have time, we'll check out these other parks for future reference! Visit our website, www.OMTmusic.com, to see when we're coming to your area!!!

Just a quick update...we did stay at Safari in League City. It proved to be a very quiet park with several permanent homes, several monthly rentals and about 10 pull-through overnight spots. All the monthly sites were back-ins and were about twelve feet apart on grassy sites with picnic tables on a small cement patio. There were plenty of areas to take our dog to do his business, as well as a few streets within the park to just walk. We only paid $250 for the month, plus electric -- 50 amps($80), which wasn't bad for a cold February. It was easy driving everywhere we needed to go -- mostly on the mid to eastern side of Houston. The space center was two exits away and awesome. Baytown was very nice and we really enjoyed the Kemah boardwalk. For a month-long stay, we liked this park a lot (since we don't need any of the extras other parks provide -- though if there had been a hot tub, we'd have used it!) The pool remained closed -- too cold. But if we're only here for a week and most of our gigs will be in Sugarland or Baytown, we'll probably find something with a little less drive time, even if it costs a little bit more.
