I'm thinking of getting a 300BH Sandpiper. I searched these forums and there sure don't seem to be many good things said about Sandpiper/Forest River/Lippert Frames.
This is a new 2010 model, I assume the Frame issue has been resolved?
We like the floor plan and it has most of the things we want at the price we want. The things we like are seperate bathroom (no sink at the end of the bed). High profile so lots of headroom in the bedroom. Fridge outside (just a bonus). Fairly large basement. Large Grey water capacity. Gel Coat. Nice looking exterior (in our opinion).
So I'm hoping someone will have something good to say about their sandpiper
We've also considered the Eagle Ridge FWIW.

No matter what you pay for a trailer, your going to have some small maybe big issues, thats a given. As far as Lippert frames there are a lot different trailers out there with them. Good luck no matter what choice YOU make.

Sandpipers
They're inexpensive units. If we had wanted something for weekends and summer camping it would of been higher on our list.
That's about all the good I can muster.

Half the industry uses Lippert frames and the vast majority of people have no problems. Same for Forest River. When you are one of very largest manufacturers you are bound to get more complaints. Personally I'm convinced many of problems come from improper use--getting an entry level rig and driving the wheels off it for six months a year, or overloading, etc.
If I like it and that particular unit looks well built I wouldn't hesitate buying it.

My friends 07 has been a little trouble, the rear jacks keep falling apart, the jack screw just come out, he replace the original clip, but has to modify their design a bit to get it to stay in. The other thing was that bottom gold panel that wraps around the entire RV, it was peeling off, I think he said it was glued on, which is crazy. He had to buy gold rivets, and put about a hundred of them around the whole RV, it looks like a factory job, but what a hassle . The entertainment system has never worked right, I think he's on his third replacement. Definitely find dealer within a close driving distance. Lastly, the 2yr. old tires blew apart , destroying a bunch of parts under the unit, and a side panel. He spent 30k, and my junk $1200 rig treats me much better.

Nope, can't say I can do that. Mine is ten years old now and only because I took the time and effort to correct their mistakes and . I will say that calling them is like talking to a wall. the factory people are idiots. no wonder the unit almost had to be rebuilt to make it work. for one they put 14's and 15 inch tires and wheels on mine. cost me a lot of money to buy tires every time I went camping. finally had to get new wheels and heavier tires to stop having blow outs. I had to repair the roof where they left a few soft spots. No I can't say any thing good about sandpiper and forest river.

Then again, maybe YOU need to do a bit more research on the frame problems that have come out on the Sandpiper/Sierra lines before you say we have abused them.
Mine and several others were brand new when the problems were discovered. Love my floor plan just not real happy with the frame flex.
Do a search under BigRay or my screen name and see the post others have made.

I would assume that the known frame issue has been corrected by now. They seem like a nice upgrade from the Wildcat and other mid-profile's Forest River makes.
With that said they did produce a few years of flex-prone trailers even though they must have known about the issues with the amount of posts from here from current/past owners.
I think (opinion) that you can do better with the same money from Jayco, KZ, Crossroads or others.

Yep, I sure do. Have owned mine now for over 3 years and in addition to pulling it across country on a 5500 mile trip two years ago, we camp close to every other weekend starting in April and ending in November. Just backed it into its awning about two hours ago, another safe and event-free weekend.
When I read these forums, I shake my head because my experience, overall, has been totally unlike the stuff I read here. My tires don't blow out, my frame hasn't cracked in half, my roof doesn't leak, etc.
It has never been back to the dealer. Several small things were easily fixable: couple of blown fuses; some exterior trim work that got fixed with some pop rivets.
It is not a high dollar rig, so I don't expect the amenities of a $50 or $75,000 unit. I paid $26,000 for it, brand new and got more than I bargained for. Love it. I retire in eight years, and when I do I will be ready for a new rig. I'll spend the bigger bucks then, and hope for another happy experience.
Until then, I am one happy Sandpiper owner.
