It is a good road. I think if you do a search on "U.S. 93" or "rt. 93" you will find plenty of discussion on this very route here on the board. I think the general feeling is that this a fine way to cross Nevada north to south. I have done the road several times and can give no warnings and many kudos for using 93.
It is lightly traveled--particularly south of Ely, wide, and about as scenic as you can get in Nevada.

Going to be coming thru area in a week or so, only staying overnite, seems there used to be an area across the street from visitor center where a guy could dry camp for the night, anyone know if it is still there? If we decide to stay more then a night , we are looking at Blue Anchor RV, we have two big rigs traveling together, anyone ever stay there??
thanks

I apoligize for the above post, I am not sure what happened, this was a post I posted some days ago, when I replys to the Hwy #93-Jackpot to Vegas/Laughlin post , my old post appeared???
Anyway I will try to retype my reply...........We take this route north almost every year, I agree it is a good road, no long hard pulls, admittedly it is not the most scenic route, but everywhere has something.
I would suggest when you get to ELY, take hiway 6 about 20 miles, south the to hiway 318, south on 318 and get back on 93 just south of Hiko to I15.
We take I-515 thru Las Vegas to 95 south and on to Laughlin.. If you are stopping in las Vegas , we stay at Sams Town out in East Vegas, easy exit off I-515 on Flamingo.
safe travels
