Another vote for the air bags. I have the Airlift 5000 air bags with the onboard compressor on our 2500 HD. Air bags unlike timbrens or overload springs will allow you to bring your truck back to its stock ride height when loaded, and when its unloaded let the air down to 5 lbs and you have a stock ride.

prefer air bags as they are adjustable. I can aim my headlights back on the road where they belong. With an overload type set up you will certainly have some squat when loaded

You can also have an extra leaf spring added to each side at a "Spring and Axle Shop", gave mine a extra 900lbs of carrying capacity as per the installer. Received a certificate with my vin # showing added capacity to put in glove box in case of meeting with D.O.T. Gave me the same carrying capacity as a one ton. Only drawback when not hook-up to fiver it rides very ruff.

X2 on the Airlift 5000. Put a set on my 2500HD, not only can you return truck to stock height, but mine rides better towing the 5W.

X3 on the AirLift 5000's. I installed them on my 2008 2500HD D/A before I towed the fiver. I simply measure the distance the fiver makes the truck squat and air up the bags to get back to the stock height. Back down to 10psi when done.

That is why the 3500 overload setup is a better deal. The overloads do not come into play when you are not loaded. If the dealers would just have a lot full of 3500's instead of all the 2500's they seem to stock, we would not be reading about this issue each morning. Which is it, we buy what they stock or they stock what we buy? For the few hundred extra, I do not even know why they continue to build the 2500's. I will never buy a 250/2500 again. Before 2003 Dodge did not have a 3500 SRW, they had a 2500 with camper option, that installed similar rear springs to the 3500 and a rear swap bar. Both the standard model and the camper optioned truck got the same 8800 sticker! Drats!
