The water pump on my 06 Crossroads Cruiser is very noisey. It cycles on and off during operation and just sounds like it is worn out. Any ideas?? Is air somehow trapped in the system?? What brand pumps run quiet??

There are likely two answers to your query. First, your pump is probably not cushioned well enough to be less noisy, but second and I think more important, it probably lacks an accumulator. An accumulator will go a long way in ridding you of the noise. Here is a link to a thread on the Crossroads forum regarding your problem.

I usually remount my water pumps on rubber spacers/grommet which keeps down pump viberations being transmitted through out the trailer frame.

Adding a accumulator tank will help with the on/off cycle each time the water is turned on for short periods.

In my Jayco it wasnt the pumping making all the racket, it was the pipe/tubing on either side of it.
The pump would vibrate the lines on either end and they would rattle against the floor.
I put that foam pipe wrap on the lines for a few feet on either side and problem solved.

The noise usually comes from the pump vibrating against the floor it's mounted on. Remove the pump from the floor and run it while holding it off the floor. If the noise abates try placing a 1" thick board under it, mount the board to the floor, and also place some rubber grommets, can be found in the electrical section of your hardware stores, under each mounting foot of the pump. Quieted our's down dramatically.

I found the pump on my 2010 Crossroads Cruiser was mounted on the side of the cabinet. This serves as a large sounding board much like a musical instrument.
I remounted the pump and added an accumulator. The accumulator made a big difference. Most of the noise comes when the pump starts. Now I can wash my hands and get a drink of water most of the time the pump does not need to run.

Sounds like I wrote this post! I have had the same problem from day one but I purchased used! I added flexible lines between the pump and the pex tubing, I unscrewed the pump from the floor in the basement, put padding under it, wrapped as many pipes as possible with rubber covering, it still sounded like a machine gun in the basement when it ran and it was right under the bedroom! After trying all this, I ordered a new pump just yesterday, a Shurflow Smart Sensor Extreme. It is supposed to be very quiet, I should have it by next week and will post the results. more infoSmart Sensor Pump

I installed the Shurflow Smart Sensor 4.0 today and I am very pleased at this point. It is very, very quiet compared to what I had, no pulsing of the water flow at lower flow rates and did I say QUIET! For me I think it was money well spent.

It may also be that the pump is acoustically decoupled from the mounting surface but the piping is carrying vibration onto a surface as well.
