(sorry, someone was already standing in line for them, when they found out I might have to cancel) Now we are looking at going to Gulf Shores in July, we have been in the past and stayed at Island Retreat but I would like to try Gulf State Park. We really like State Parks and COE Campgrounds. Does anyone, that has stayed at GSP, have a favorite area of the campground they like to stay at? Does anyone know if the pool is completed? The public fishing pier, I know it is close to be completed, but has anyone heard of a definate date that it will be? Thanks for the help! Happy Camping and Safe Travels! All sites and bath houses were rebuilt after Ivan, so they are all in really nice shape - paved and level. There are no real shady areas any more so for the most part, one site is about as good as another. I have heard the pool was supposed to be complete by this past weekend, but I don't know for sure. Up near the rec center so we could get wifi at the rv. Nice roomy site looking across the lake toward the beach and pavillion. If you take bikes with you, it is an easy ride to the beach and there are extensive bike/walking trails inland. We rode them all! Nice golf course too. Have fun! According to the reservation lady the pier is supposed to be completed in July. We didn’t know they were building a pool. Anyone have info about its progress? Great place. I'll be downloading my pictures to my photolink but will not have that done until Monday at the latest so check back here and I'll post when they are ready to check out. I have pictures of everything from campsites to the inside of the bathhouses. The pool is a big hole. Long way to go. The pier will likely be done at the end of August according to the guy in the office. Looks like it's all done except for the very end. We were in site 468 which is all the way down at the very end. Good if you have dogs because there is a nice paved walk that goes way back into the swamp to walk them on. Nice big pull throughs but zero shade like most of the park. If you want shade try to get into 20-22-24. That's about it.
