Can anyone share thier favorite resort in Arizona? We visited a place today called Voyager RV Resort that had 3 swimming pools, spas, restaurant, LOTS of activities including a lapidary and silversmith shop. It seemed like a great place to spend a few months during the winter. (We've always gone to Florida and want to try somthing new).
Are there places like this in Yuma? Phoenix area? What about wintering at Lake Havasu or along the Colorado River?
Any suggestions and insights are appreciated.
Thanks!
ps Im especially interested in places with the lapidary and silver shops.
Life may not be the party we expected...
but we may as well dance while we're here.

I could really put a lot in here but will just say that we spent several winters at Voyager before moving here to the Tucson area. In that you are looking for those special shops you might be very limited in places.
You could check out Palm Creek in Casa Grande. It is a very, very nice park and friends tell me that have dropped their prices by a lot for next year. Casa Grande has come up a long ways - even has a huge new shopping center out there on the freeway. It has the advantage of being halfway between Phoenix and Tucson.
Of course we like the Tucson area and always suggest Voyager or Rincon West. Been to Yuma and not sure I would want to spend a winter there. Kinda limited but LOTS of RV parks. Have stayed at Del Pueblo and liked it.
Think you would have a tough time finding l & s shops in places like Lake Havasu but I could be wrong.
I am not a Phoenix fan; just so you understand. We go there for Mayo Clinic and that is all. Major traffic and pollution issues. I have heard that a place called Val Vista or something like that is very nice if you do go up there.
Feel free to email or PM me anytime.
God bless - be safe.

For me, Tucson would be it because of so much to see and do there. Yuma is more limited, but has more RV parks (and probably less cost). Not all the parks in Tucson cost as much as Voyager, although it is very nice.

We stay at Val Vista in Mesa but for only 2 weeks at a time for baseball spring training. They have a LOT of activities and the people are very friendly. The place is clean and well maintained.

Although the Voyager is a little pricey it has everything you could want and the people are great. Although after being taken over by Encore Resorts it did slip a little last year but we will still be going there this winter. Have fun

Yuma has one advantage over the others, it's warmer, we feel.
Only place we've stayed the two times we were there was Fortuna De Oro in the foothills east of town off I-8.

There is a small community just east of Apache Junction named Gold Canyon, we spent the last 2 winters there, there are 2 very nice RV Resorts in Gold Canyon. Gold Canyon Golf and RV Resort and Canyon Vista RV Resort, they both have Web sites you might check them out. Gold Canyon sits at the foot of the Superstition Mountains about 35 miles east of Phoenix and about 10 minutes outside the metroplex. Very, very nice area. We tried Yuma two winters in a row and it is just to windy there for us. We did Palm Creek in Casa Grande 1 winter, the Park is just to big and the town sucks. We have been to Tucson and the area is great but have never spent any time there.

We stay at ViewPoint Golf & RV Resort
for the following reasons:
1) Most RVer's are kept together in the North Point area of the park. Not shoved in between Park models
2) North Point has it's own swimming pool and hot tubs
3) North Point has it's own mail box area for longer stays
4) North Point has a GREAT fenced in dog park
5) 2 Golf courses 18 and 9 hole
6) New pickle ball courts
7) Great Tennis courts
8) Weekly dinner shows
9) Every possile club you can think of(My wife belongs to the quilt club more than 130 members)You should see their show in March
10)Close to shopping , restaurants and entertainment without the traffic you have in the Phoenix area parks
Just My Humble Opinion

Well... you have been to Voyager, we tried the Voyager a few years ago, and thought it would be high on out list of choices. However, we had not been to Palm Creek. Although very nice at that time, we choose to come to Palm Creek & Casa Grande.
If you want the traffic, crime, hustle and bustle of a big metroplis i.e. Phoenix,Mesa, Tuscon.... then Casa Grande would not be for you.
We returned to the Voyager last year for a visit, IMHO it has went downhill considerably. It just looked 'junky' and was somewhat a sad visit.Albeit does still have many amenties.
We have wintered in FL, Texas and here in AZ. We prefer Palm Creek.

I also have many friends who winter in Yuma, what it comes down to, do you like it?? I suggest you try a couple weeks at a few different places, then decide.
