This is true. Linoleum has totally different and in many cases better characteristics than Vinyl. My local Home Depot does not even sell Linoleum.....which, according to my very brief research, can be more durable and much better where moisture is a factor. It is also all natural, therefore green. I guess the high end vinyl is quite durable as well...depends on the number and quality of surface treatments.

I went into my unit last night and the flooring is split lenghtwise, AND on a diagonal. It was dusk and no lights on, so at first I thought it was a twig on the floor. Pulled up the throw rug, and there was a HUGE 3 way split. Not glued down at all. I was in there a couple weeks ago and everything was fine. Of course it was installed under the cabinets and everything. Time for some laminate I guess. Might do under the table too - stupid place for carpeting, especially with kids.

There was a thread on here around this time last year that suggested cork tile flooring. It sounded great, lightweight, easy to install, soft on the feet, or with wet / moisture, and has some insulating value to keep the floor warm.

We used a no glue vinyl, I just made a template with heavy paper and tape. I simply used some matching trim strips. It layed down very nicely, just a Saturday project

I too am joining the "split lino" club as of this spring. I am hoping to work with my dealer and getting the warranty work approved. On the up side, reading about it happening to so many on here made me a lot less "miffed" when I saw it had happened. I know it's a good product (Armstrong) that is installed poorly in our trailers. With luck my dealer can make it look good again.

I would go with bamboo flooring, looks like wood but much harder.

Sheet vinyl flooring as others have stated is not linoleum. Sheet vinyl comes in 6ft and 12ft widths, linoleum comes 6ft wide. If you use sheet vinyl you want to avoid seams at all costs. Most RV manufactures use Congoleum's Mobileflor. This is made for the mobile home and RV industry. It's a very low grade of sheet vinyl. Take a look at Mannington's CustomSpec which is a commercial grade of cushioned sheet vinyl.

Same thing happened to us on our 2008 Jayco Jay Flight 28BHS. Factory flooring was not glued down. It was repaired under the warranty. The dealer pulled the dinette and bed and had a flooring company install the replacement vinyl from Jayco. Then they added quarter round to cover the edges. It turned out satisfactorily.

Well when I opened the door I thought the trailer had split in half. The Linoleum has split, tore, or what ever. At first I thought the structure has split. I did not know what to do. But I calmed down and eventually got the power on and then the heat and water and took some time to inspect. It is only the Linoleum. It split from the front bedroom to the bath in the rear. Right in the middle. I do not think it would be to hard to replace but it runs under the bedroom walls, under the beds, under all the cabinets, under the sinks and toilet. Is there something else besides carpet that would be a good fix. I do not want tile because of the weight and it will crack because of the TT flexing and twisting. But what about Armstong or other fake wood flooring?
Anyone done something like this?
Thanks

I'm in the club now too! Three splits....
Of course dealer and extended warranty won't touch it. Contacted Forest River and they told me where to go.
Dealer quoted me $1000 supply and install, $800 if I supply. Earliest booking is July!
Based on my internet research the Allure vinyl planks from HD are out, as users say they shrink and leave gaps on the ends after a cold winter. Plus in the HD Q&A the allure rep does not endorse Rv installs.
Next option is glue down cork. Has anyone had experience with this? Does it stand the cold temps? I don't want the 1/2" floating cork.
If not cork then back to lino (vinyl) - is there anyway to prevent cracking? full glue? better quality vinyl???

Fully gluing vinly/linoleum seems to be the best solution, so far.
My parents TT flooring cracked winter 2007, had it replaced spring 2008. So far so good! They had it 100% glued down instead of floating with quarter round at the edges.
Under warranty Forest River sent them new flooring and all the quarter round for the edges. The flooring company that installed it lef tthe quarter round off and siliconed the edges. Looks much better and took half the time.
Good luck!
PS We put Allure vinyl in our house - it is really heavy.
