It is frustrating, but as others have said, there usually are some issues at the beginning. Try to look at the bright side:
1. It could have been YOU having all kinds of problems that first weekend. And . . .
2. Better the slide problem happened now and not during your 2 month trip.
So, things aren't as bad as they could have been. You'll get the problem(s) resolved and be on the road before you know it!!

Once you get in the unit more and start using it you will find more issues. I bet by the time you get back from your 2 month trip you will have a minimum of 10 things that will need to be adjusted/fixed. Its just how it is for the first year.

Hi Lee.....Im sorry to here about your trouble's and I hope they are resolved soon and to your satisfaction. On a side note, why is it that some members feel the need to minimize your efforts. "Lee" is not new to the RV world, he's had at least two motorhomes to my knowledge and although this is his first 5'er, he knows how the system works. With that being said, why shouldnt he be "pissed" and/or anixous about getting his "NEW" 5'er ready for his trip? Least we forget...it is a NEW unit and while its understandable that things go wrong...there is NO excuse for a lazy/un-interested attitude from either a dealer or manufacturer in this wonderful economic mess were in right now. Lee has a great trip planned...why should he not expect some sort of ergency...IMHO Im with ya Lee!

As I was reading your post, the first thing that came to my mind about your slide out was that it was a breaker. I am surprised to read that it was a gear. Anyway, I pray for a quick a permanent resolution to your problem.

Thanks Dwight..... He is exactly right I am not a "ROOKIE" to the RV world but this is my first 5er. We have had 2 Popups, 1 Travel Trailer, 2 "C" Class, 2 "A" Class. and your right I am uneasy right now. I am less then a month away from leaving on the longest trip I have ever taken. My Dealer and Keystone knows my plans and they know the dates. I am just very disappointed they way that I am being Ignored, put off, shoved under the rug etc.
By me posting this I hope I am able to help some one who is thinking about buying from Keystone to take a second look at them and perhaps save them some grief. Like was said these are tough economic times for Dealers and Manufactures. We need to put a stop to all this POOR quality work and make them take some pride in the product they sell us. Relax, a friend of mine says they are all junk when they come off the line.
My Laredo had two roof leaks, the toilet leak, a licence plate braket that was broke by the "tech", and I can't remember what else.
I fix that small stuff by myself with much better results than dragging it back to the dealer.
I think it also depends on the dealer, some are good and some have brain dead techs.
Hang in there bud.

Our brand new Keystone 5ver has been at the dealership since monday for warranty work. We were told it would be there 2 days max, we thought, cool! Well, DH called them yesterday to check on the status and was told they are waiting on approval from Keystone for two remaining items. One is a seal on the slide that has a small hole in it from rubbing against a screw head when closed and the other is the door panel over the hot water heater which has a small dent in it. That 2 day stay has now dragged out to a full week, maybe longer.

When work is done under warranty the dealer be it a Rv, Truck, Car must get approval from the manufacturer as it is the manufacturer that pays the bill. That is just how it works. Same with my extended warranty on the RV. Approval first before the dealer will do anything. The Elkhart area is hard hit and all the manufactrurer's are cutting back and my guess is that is affecting everything. IMO 4 maybe 5 days is not a unusual amount of time to receive a part.. Fustrating yes.. No one was minimizing his efforts any one of us might of done the same thing maybe more. We have had 4 previous Rv's of various types and manufacturer's but what does that have to do with the company we have now or the process we may have to follow for warranty work???
