Thanks so much for all the replies. They were actually very helpful. What I learned was that the prices are all over the place and we should plan to spend a month in one spot to help with our budget or maybe move every two weeks if we use parks that have time restrictions. I think we will find a combination of scenarios - staying in inexpensive ones some months and more expensive ones in other months.

In my original post I forgot that I won't need cable and wi-fi because once we go full-time we will have satellite TV and an aircard and those items are in another line item in the budget.

So, I'm sticking with $500 and will do the research for finding campgrounds that will fit that budget once we get on the road (the house still has not sold and no lookers this week).

I think for the most part that your $500 figure is a good working number.

Be aware that lots of the less expensive parks are not necessarily in areas you may want to be.

It depends on your interests - WHY you are there. If your outdoors oriented, have a hobby or passion to pursue, or more into the park social life.

Of course, the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

We have a boat and fish, so we "need" to be by large bodies of water.

I wandered around the great state of Texas looking at many of the areas and parks, and none were to my liking (for long term this winter) until I found the one I am in.

It is more expensive than most mentioned but for right around $600 -including paying metered electric. I walk over a boardwalk to the beach, and can walk for miles along it, Or catch a trolley to town if I don't want to drive, where the people watching is great. We have Hughes for internet and DISH, so don't pay for cable although wifi here is included with the rent.

Location, location, location is what drives me, you will find a way to adjust your budget to be where you want, doing what you want. You are living after all.

We also have a park system membership which can be an excellent value if you use it. They just weren't where I wanted to be this winter.

Hang in there, your buyers could be there at any time.

*Hopefully I covered my rear with the disclaimers, YMMV and so forth...
